TES-TV
Tesvisio (earlier TES-TV) was the first television channel in Finland. It began regular broadcasts on March 21, 1956 and continued broadcasting until March 1965, when it was turned into Yle TV2. The channel began as a television experiment by Radioinsinööriseura (later Elektroniikkainsinöörien seura), an association of radio and electronics engineers who had begun test broadcasts as early as April 1955. Their first public broadcast, which was aired on May 24, 1955, is considered the first broadcast in Finnish television history. Regular broadcasts began in 1956 after the foundation Tekniikan edistämissäätiö began supporting the project. The channel was soon named ''TES-TV'' after them. The final name ''Tesvisio'' was adopted in 1960 after the management was spun off into a separate company. Tesvisio was a commercial channel funded by advertising. MTV3
MTV3 ( fi, MTV Kolme, sv, MTV Tre) is a Finnish commercial television station. It had the biggest audience share of all Finnish TV channels until Yle TV1 (from Yle) took the lead. The letters MTV stand for Mainos-TV (literally "Advertisement-TV", i.e. "Commercial TV), due to the channel carrying advertising for revenue. Number 3 was added later, when the channel was allocated the third nationwide television channel and it generally became known as "Channel Three"—Finnish Broadcasting Company’s Yle TV1 and Yle TV2 being the first two—and also to distinguish it from the later MTV Finland, which is a Finnish version of Paramount's MTV channel. From 1957 until 2001, the channel's logo was a stylised owl, changed to an owl's eye after an image renewal in 2001, which was then used until 2013. MTV3 has about 500 employees. Yle TV2 ( fi, Yle TV Kaksi; sv, Yle TV Två) is a Finnish television channel owned and operated by Yle. TV2 was launched in 1965 as the successor to the former television channels TES-TV (Tesvisio) and Tamvisio, and broadcasts public service programming, sports, drama, children's, youth, and music programmes.
