Tsuneo Matsudaira
was a Japanese diplomat of the 20th century. Diplomatic and political career The son of Lord Matsudaira Katamori of Aizu, Tsuneo served as Japanese Ambassador to the United States. In 1929–1935 served as Ambassador to Britain, and in that capacity represented his country at the London Conference on Naval Armaments in 1930. During that conference, he was convinced to accept the ratio in ships which appeared humiliating to the Japanese government through the persuasion efforts of one of the US delegates, Senator David A. Reed, who in return agreed to grant the Japanese government better terms on non-combatant ships. In 1936–1945 served as head of the Imperial Household Agency. His tenure as head of the Imperial Household Agency ended in resignation on June 4, 1945, after he took responsibility for part of the Imperial Palace burning in the American firebombing of Tokyo. Nishioka Tsuneo
Nishioka Tsuneo (西岡常夫) (7 February 1924 – 8 February 2014) - was a Japanese martial artist and the founder of the Shinto Muso-ryu Jōdō group Sei Ryu Kai (清隆会). As of 2012, Nishioka had retired from active teaching although several of his menkyo kaiden continue to transmit his teachings. Nishioka Tsuneo started his training in Shinto Muso Ryu (神道夢想流) under Shimizu Takaji (清水隆次) in 1938 at the age of 14. Nishioka studied constantly with Shimizu Takaji until Shimizu’s death in 1978. Nishioka received his first scroll of transmission (''Oku-iri'') in 1941, the second (''Shomokuroku'') in 1943 and (''Gomokuroku'') in 1966. In 1975 Nishioka received his ''Menkyo Kaiden'' or "license of full transmission" from Shimizu Takaji. During the above timeline Nishioka started teaching and training with the Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei (ZenKenRen) but has ceased to be involved with them and has only returned to teach occasionally. Tsuneo Ando
Tsuneo Ando is an 8th dan Yoshinkan Aikido teacher. He spent 13 years as uchi deshi to Gozo Shioda, the founder of Yoshinkan Aikido. He is said to closely resemble Shioda in terms of size; speed and style. Tsuneo Ando was born in 1956 in Nihama City, Ehime Prefecture on the island of Shikoku. He attended Tokushima University where he studied engineering. Ando joined the Tokushima University Aikido Club where he reached the rank of 2nd dan in aikikai. After graduating from university Ando was briefly employed by a chemical company. In 1981, he joined the Yoshinkai as uchi deshi. He was awarded the title of shihan (Master) in 1993 and he currently holds the rank of 8th dan in Yoshinkan Aikido. He also holds the title of ''shuseki shihan'' (主席師範, chairman shihan) at the Yoshinkan Aikido Headquarters in Tokyo. Tsuneo Nakahara
was a Japanese communications engineer, executive advisor to the CEO of Sumitomo Electric. He was one of the main researchers contributing to the development of optical fiber technology. He earned his B.E. in 1953 and his Ph.D. in 1961, both in electrical engineering, from the University of Tokyo. He did his post-doc at Polytechnic Institute of New York University. He was a foreign associate of the US National Academy of Engineering and a member of the Board of Trustees of Polytechnic Institute of New York University. was a Japanese alpinist. Tsuneo Imahori
is a Japanese guitarist and composer. Life He started to play acoustic guitar aged 12, inspired by British folk music from the likes of Bert Jansch, and later the work of Frank Zappa and Andy Partridge. In 1986 he formed the band Tipographica, with saxophonist Naruyoshi Kikuchi and jazz pianist Akira Minakami. After four albums, the group disbanded in 1996. In the 90s he formed the instrumental trio MEATOPIA with Tadahiko Yokogawa of 4-D mode1 and P-MODEL & Osamu Matsumoto. They released one self-titled album under this band in 1993. After providing the soundtrack to ''Gungrave'' for PlayStation 2 in 2002, the concept was subsequently developed into an anime series, also scored by Imahori. Tsuneo Tamagawa
Tsuneo Tamagawa (Japanese: 玉河 恒夫, ''Tamagawa Tsuneo'', 11 December 1925 in Tokyo – 30 December 2017 in New Haven, Connecticut) was a mathematician. He worked on the arithmetic of classical groups. Tamagawa received his PhD in 1954 at the University of Tokyo under Shōkichi Iyanaga. Tamagawa was a visiting scholar at the Institute for Advanced Study in 1955/6, 1958, and 1970. He has been on the Yale University faculty since 1963, and became emeritus in 1996. He introduced the Tamagawa numbers, which are measures for algebraic groups over algebraic number fields. These measures play an essential role in conjectures on arithmetic algebraic geometry, such as those of Spencer Bloch and Kazuya Kato.
