Paint Creek is a U.S. Geological Survey. National Hydrography Dataset high-resolution flowline dataThe National Map accessed November 7, 2011 stream in the U.S. state of Michigan, located in northern Oakland County and rising in Brandon Township in the northern part of the county. The creek drains through a series of lakes that lead into Lake Orion. Paint Creek continues as the outflow from the east end of Lake Orion in downtown Lake Orion. It flows southeastward through Oakland Township and Rochester Hills into the Clinton River in Rochester. The damming of Paint Creek in the village of Lake Orion in 1839 resulted in the expansion of Lake Canadaigua. The newly created larger lake was renamed Lake Orion (or Orion Lake) after the village. It is one of two designated trout streams in Oakland County, the other being Trout Creek. Clinton River (Michigan)
The Clinton River is a river in southeastern Michigan in the United States. It is named in honor of DeWitt Clinton, who was governor of New York from 1817 to 1823. The main branch of the river rises from wetlands and coldwater tributaries from within Independence, Brandon and Springfield Townships. A series of dams create a number of small lakes west of Pontiac, the last of which is Crystal Lake. The river is piped under downtown Pontiac, re-emerging to the east of downtown. Bald Mountain Recreation Area
Bald Mountain State Recreation Area is a state park located near Lake Orion, Michigan off M-24. It consists of some of the most rugged terrain in southeastern Michigan. The recreation area is composed of a North Unit and a South Unit, which are not contiguous. The South Unit itself includes two parts separated by M-24 (Lapeer Road), but the section west of M-24 has no recreational facilities or trails and is primarily undeveloped forest and grassy plains segmented by a few through-roads. It is a popular recreation area for day users, hunters, and fishermen. Hunting includes deer, rabbit, squirrel, Canada goose, woodchuck, duck, raccoon, and woodcock.
