Troll Gods
''Troll Gods'' is a 1989 role-playing game supplement for ''RuneQuest'' published by Avalon Hill. Contents ''Troll Gods'' is a supplement in which the trolls of Glorantha and their cults are detailed. Publication history ''Troll Gods'' was written by Greg Stafford and Sandy Petersen with William Dunn, with a cover by Tom Sullivan, and illustrations by Dave Dobyski, and was published by The Avalon Hill Game Co. in 1990 as a boxed set with an 88-page book, a 28-page book, and a large two-color map. Shannon Appelcline explained that by 1987, ''RuneQuest'' was the only role-playing game still being published by Avalon Hill, which wanted to publish the game cheaply, so that "in-house cartographer Dave Dobyski was given all artwork assignments for ''RuneQuest''. Though his maps were top rate, he wasn't an illustrator, and it showed in the amateurish drawings that appeared starting in ''Troll Gods'' (1989)." Avalon Hill Games Inc. is a game company that publishes wargames and strategic board games. It has also published miniature wargaming rules, role-playing games and sports simulations. ''Basic Role-Playing'' (''BRP'') is a tabletop role-playing game which originated in the ''RuneQuest'' fantasy role-playing game. Chaosium released the ''BRP'' standalone booklet in 1980 in the boxed set release of the second edition of ''RuneQuest''. Greg Stafford and Lynn Willis are credited as the authors. Chaosium used the percentile skill-based system as the basis for most of their games, including ''Call of Cthulhu (role-playing game), Call of Cthulhu'', ''Stormbringer (role-playing game), Stormbringer'', and ''Elfquest (role-playing game), Elfquest''. Francis Gregory Stafford (February 9, 1948 – October 10, 2018) was an American game designer, publisher, and practitioner of shamanism. Stafford is most famous as the creator of the fantasy world of Glorantha, but he was also a prolific games designer. Carl Sanford Joslyn "Sandy" Petersen (born September 16, 1955) is an American game designer. He worked at Chaosium, contributing to the development of ''RuneQuest'' and later creating the acclaimed and influential horror role-playing game ''Call of Cthulhu''. He would later join id Software where he would work on the development of the ''Doom'' franchise and ''Quake''. ''RuneQuest'' (commonly abbreviated as RQ) is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game originally designed by Steve Perrin, Ray Turney, Steve Henderson (game designer), Steve Henderson, and Warren James, and set in Greg Stafford's mythical world of Glorantha. Glorantha
Glorantha is a fantasy world created by Greg Stafford. It was first introduced in the board game '' White Bear and Red Moon'' (1975) by Chaosium and then in a number of other board, roleplaying and computer games, including ''RuneQuest'' and ''HeroQuest'', as well as several works of fiction and the computer strategy game ''King of Dragon Pass''. A box set or (its original name) boxed set is a set of items (for example, a compilation of books, musical recordings, films or television programs) traditionally packaged in a box and offered for sale as a single unit.
