The Skull (band)
The Skull is an American doom metal band founded by three former members of Trouble, vocalist Eric Wagner, bassist Ron Holzner, and drummer Jeff "Oly" Olson. It was founded in 2012 in Chicago, Illinois. The band's name is derived from Trouble's second studio album, ''The Skull.'' History Asked in February 2012 why the three former members of Trouble decided to form The Skull, bassist Ron Holzner replied, "The Trouble set at last year's ''Days of the Doomed Fest'' n Kenosha, Wisconsinwas the catalyst for this whole thing. Eric and Oly hadn't had the chance to talk much before he festival and then when I got there the next day and we all got to hang out and talk... it was really nice! Angel Witch
Angel Witch are a British heavy metal band which formed in London in 1976 as part of the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM) movement. Biography Formation The band formed, originally under the name of Lucifer, of guitarist and vocalist Kevin Heybourne, guitarist Rob Downing, drummer Steve Jones, and bassist Barry Clements. Lucifer split and Steve Jones joined Bruce Dickinson to form Speed. The remnants of Lucifer became Angel Witch, with the exceptions of Clements, who was replaced by Kevin Riddles, and Steve Jones, who was replaced by Steve Coleman. The following year Rob Downing left the band. Limited chart success, brief record deal Angel Witch's first song to achieve mainstream popularity was "Baphomet", which was included on a compilation titled ''Metal for Muthas''. Cathedral were a doom metal band from Coventry, England. The group gained attention upon release of its debut album, ''Forest of Equilibrium'' (1991), which is considered a classic of the genre. Witch Mountain is an American doom metal band from Portland, Oregon. Formed in 1997, Witch Mountain recorded a demo, released their first full-length album, and toured both nationally and locally. After a 2002 tour with Eternal Elysium, the band slowed activity while Rob and Dave attended to their respective families and their other band Iommi Stubbs, and Nate worked on other musical collaborations and his booking agency, Nanotear. After a July 2009 show opening for Pentagram, guest singer Uta was asked to join the band as main vocalist, marking a revival of the band. Pentagram (band)
Pentagram is an American heavy metal band from Alexandria, Virginia, most famous as one of the pioneers of heavy metal, and the subgenre of doom metal in particular. As such, they are considered one of the "big four of doom metal", alongside Candlemass, Saint Vitus and Trouble. The band was prolific in the underground scene of the 1970s, producing many demos and rehearsal tapes, but did not release a full-length album until reforming in the early 1980s with an almost completely new line-up. Throughout the band's history the only constant member has been vocalist Bobby Liebling. The revolving line-up of Pentagram has featured many well-respected musicians in the local doom metal scene, with members spending time in other acts such as the Obsessed, Place of Skulls, Internal Void, Spirit Caravan, among many others. NWOBHM
The new wave of British heavy metal (commonly abbreviated as NWOBHM) was a nationwide musical movement that started in England in the mid-1970s and achieved international attention by the early 1980s. Journalist Geoff Barton coined the term in a May 1979 issue of the British music newspaper ''Sounds'' to describe the emergence of new heavy metal bands in the mid to late 1970s, during the period of punk rock's decline and the dominance of new wave music. Although encompassing diverse mainstream and underground styles, the music of the NWOBHM is best remembered for drawing on the heavy metal of the 1970s and infusing it with the intensity of punk rock to produce fast and aggressive songs.
