The Scientists Of Modern Music
The Scientists of Modern Music were an electronic group from Hobart, Australia, consisting of Cal Young and Simon McIntosh. History In 2004, Cal Young & Simon McIntosh started wagging audio design classes together, in order to jam on a very old drum kit and an un-tunable guitar just for kicks. They later progressed into electronic music, hoarding bits and pieces off eBay to start a band which became The Scientists of Modern Music. The duo came second in a college band competition, strangely listed under 'acoustic rock', but still managed to make an impact which scored them a couple of local shows in late 2005. From there Cal and Simon wrote a handful of songs in the space of two weeks and released a home brew EP, which gained them a special mention on Triple J and secured TSOMM a place on various radio stations around Australia. MS Fest
MS Fest was a music festival, held annually in Launceston, Tasmania Australia since 2006 until 2011 when the MS Society unsuccessfully attempted to establish a new event under the brand. Hobart, Tasmania. It was a single day event, held in February or March on a Saturday. The festival started in 2006 with a concert at Launceston's Regatta Ground to mark the 50th anniversary of the MS Society. The event sold out, and quickly became known as one of Tasmania's premier music events. In 2007 the event operation and funding was taken over by Launceston-based events company Opcon and relocated to Inveresk Showground to accommodate a larger crowd. There was a main stage, featuring mostly rock and hip hop, and a secondary stage, the Ministry of Sound arena, which featured DJ and electronic music throughout the day. Gerling
Gerling were an Australian electronica, alternative rock trio formed in 1993. From early 1997 the members were Darren Cross on guitar and lead vocals, Presser (real name Paul Towner) on drums and Burke Reid on guitar and vocals. Their second album, ''When Young Terrorists Chase the Sun'' (September 2001), reached the ARIA Albums Chart top50. It provided a top50 single, "Dust Me Selecta" (August 2001). The group disbanded in 2007. History Gerling were formed as a guitar pop trio in 1993 in western Sydney with the line-up of Darren Cross (aka Darren E. Infusion (band)
Infusion were an Australian electronica band, originally from Wollongong which formed in 1995. They are best known for their ARIA Music Award-winning song "Girls Can Be Cruel" and ''Six Feet Above Yesterday''. Career 1995-2002: Early Days and ''Phrases and Numbers'' Infusion founding members, Jamie Stevens and Manuel Sharrad, met in 1988 at a local high school in Wollongong. Frank Xavier also hails from Wollongong, although he did not meet the other two until they had relocated to Sydney. In 1995, Infusion released their debut single "Smokescreen / Lux" on the Dance Pool label while primarily remixing other artists' tracks. In 1999, he band signed with Thunk Records, an underground electronic label and released their debut studio album, '' Phrases and Numbers'', in 2000. The Meredith Music Festival (otherwise known simply as Meredith or MMF) is a three-day outdoor music festival held every December at the "Supernatural Amphitheatre", a natural amphitheatre located on private farmland near the town of Meredith in Victoria, Australia. A self-funded, non-commercial event that was first held in 1991, the festival spawned Golden Plains, a music festival that takes place over the Labour Day long weekend in March. At the APRA Music Awards of 2020, the festival won Licensee of the Year Award. The upcoming 2022 festival is the first to occur in 3 years, following no festival since 2019. Pyramid Rock Festival
The Pyramid Rock Festival was an Australian New Year's Eve camp-out rock music festival at Ventnor on Phillip Island. The original festival in 2004 was organised by local resident, Angus Cameron, and his two cousins. History Beginning as a single day, from its second year it was run over two nights with two stages – the Main Stage, and the Pharaoh's Annex. The Main Stage hosted the major local and international acts, while the Pharaoh's Annex featured lesser-known local acts, and in the later evening, the more dance-oriented acts of the festival. There was also a variety of market stalls. With declining attendees that stemmed from the embarrassing failure at the 2009/2010 festival to perform a New Year countdown and the last-minute cancellation of numerous acts, the festival was shelved for 2013 and as of September that year its promoters were "exploring options for the festival to return in 2014". Southern Roots Festival
Southern Roots was an annual music festival in Australia, held in Hobart, Tasmania. Similar to the Big Day Out, it is common that the well-known headlining acts will play on the outdoor "Main Stage" which overlooks the venue, and the lesser known (and often local) acts will perform on the indoor "Pavilion Stage". The stages are within a short walking distance of each another. Guitar
The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. It is usually held flat against the player's body and played by strumming or plucking the strings with the dominant hand, while simultaneously pressing selected strings against frets with the fingers of the opposite hand. A plectrum or individual finger picks may also be used to strike the strings.
