The Love is an American restaurant located in Philadelphia. It is the third collaboration between Philadelphia-based restaurateurs Stephen Starr and Aimee Olexy, and Starr's twentieth restaurant in the city. The interior was designed by Roman and Williams Roman and Williams Building and Interiors is an American-owned, New York-based design studio known for its work on hotels, restaurants, retail spaces, homes and product design. Stephen Starr
Stephen Starr (born 1957) is an American restaurateur and former entertainment promoter based in Philadelphia. He owns the Starr Restaurants group which operates over thirty restaurants. He has restaurants in many different areas both in the United States as well as overseas. These restaurants include Alma De Cuba, Barclay Prime, Buddakan, Butcher and Singer, The Continental Mid-town, The Dandelion, El Rey, El Vez, Fette Sau, Frankford Hall, Jones, Morimoto, Parc, Pod, Serpico, Stella, Talula's Daily, Talula's Garden, and The Love in Philadelphia. Aimee Olexy
Aimee Olexy is an American restaurateur who, with Stephen Starr, owns The Love in Philadelphia. They also co-own Talula's Table and Talula's Garden. Biography Olexy grew up in West Chester, Pennsylvania. In the late 1980s, as a teenager, her first restaurant job was in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania at Spring Mill Café. She attended St. Joseph’s University where she earned a degree in English literature followed by a MBA. She went on to France and attended l’Universitie du Vin. Career In 1999, she returned to Philadelphia and got jobs relating to operations in the restaurant industry. Her first job with Starr was as general manager of Blue Angel, his Center City, Philadelphia bistro. She was promoted to Director of Restaurants and, in 2000, opened Pod. Le Coucou is a French restaurant in New York City which opened in 2016. The restaurant's chef is Daniel Rose and Stephen Starr is the owner. The restaurant is located in 11 Howard, a hotel. History and menu History Before beginning Le Coucou, Rose was a chef in Paris at his own restaurant, Spring. Rose continued to operate Spring after founding Le Coucou. Before formally partnering with Starr, Rose worked briefly in the kitchen of Starr's restaurant Buddakan. Rose has a reputation as a "cerebral" chef, in contrast to Starr's "mass-appeal" restaurants.
