''The Chief Witness'' (German: ''Die Kronzeugin'') is a 1937 German crime drama film directed by Georg Jacoby and starring Iván Petrovich, Sybille Schmitz and Sabine Peters. It was shot at the Babelsberg Studios in Berlin.Bock & Töteberg p.350 The film's sets were designed by the art directors Otto Hunte and Willy Schiller. Location shooting took place in the Krkonose Mountains in Czechoslovakia and Zugspitze in Bavaria. Rudolf Antonius Heinrich Platte (12 February 1904 – 18 December 1984) was a German actor. Biography Born in Hörde, Westphalia (today part of Dortmund) the son of a merchant, his family moved to Hildesheim three years later. Rudolf left school at the age of 16 to take acting lessons, making his debut in 1925 as Shylock in Shakespeare's ''The Merchant of Venice'' in Düsseldorf. Two years later he moved to Berlin, where he together with Werner Finck and Hans Deppe founded the cabaret '' Die Katakombe''. From 1929 onward, Platte performed in more than 200 film roles, embodying the shy and underestimated, likeable "Little Man". In 1940 he succeeded Ralph Arthur Roberts as director of the Theater in der Behrenstraße in Berlin (right beside the present-day Komische Oper) until its final closure in 1944. Elisabeth Margarete Biermann (née Brink, born Frey; 2 April 1905 – 28 October 1985), known professionally as Elga Brink, was a German film actress. Brink rose to prominence in the early 1920s, when she starred in many silent films. Her last silent film was '' Marriage in Trouble'' in 1928. After silent films, Brink continued acting in sound films until her retirement in 1951. Her last role was in the 1951 movie ''Das fremde Leben.'' After her retirement, Brink remarried and worked as a clerk in Hamburg until her death in 1985. Zugspitze
The Zugspitze (), at above Normalhöhennull, sea level, is the highest peak of the Wetterstein Mountains as well as the highest mountain in Germany. It lies south of the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and the Austria–Germany border runs over its western summit. South of the mountain is the ''Zugspitzplatt'', a high karst plateau with numerous caves. The Giant Mountains, Krkonoše or Karkonosze (Czech: , Polish: , german: Riesengebirge) are a mountain range located in the north of the Czech Republic and the south-west of Poland, part of the Sudetes mountain system (part of the Bohemian Massif).
