Tarka (film)
''Tarka'' ( kn, ತರ್ಕ, en, Logic) is a 1989 Indian Kannada-language mystery- thriller film, produced by Praveen and directed and written by Sunil Kumar Desai based on Agatha Christie's 1958 play '' The Unexpected Guest.'' It is the first film noir in Kannada cinema, and the first Kannada film to be made without songs, dance, or stunt sequences. The film stars Shankar Nag, Devaraj and Vanitha Vasu in lead roles along with Avinash, Shivaraj and Praveen Nayak in supporting roles. The film revolves around an escaped convict who finds the body of a man in his childhood friend's house. Inspired by B. R. Chopra's thrillers, Desai started working on a script in the late 80's. After completing the script he tried to find a producer who could produce the project, but in vain. Sunil Kumar Desai is an Indian film director, writer and producer, known for his work in Kannada cinema. In most of his films, Desai blends art and commercial cinema. He has written and directed Thriller (genre), suspense/thrillers and Romance film, love stories. He has won the Karnataka state awards (4 times) in the Best Screenplay & Best Dialogues categories. He has also won the Filmfare awards 4 times. Desai worked with South Indian musicians like Illayaraja, Hamsalekha and Gunasingh. Desai was born in 1955 in Bijapur, Karnataka. He had his primary education in Bijapur and higher education in Pune. He started his film-career as an assistant to Kashinath (actor), Kashinath, and later Suresh Heblikar. Karnataka State Film Awards
Karnataka State Film Awards are the most notable and prestigious film awards given for Kannada film industry in Karnataka, India. These are considered the highest awards for Kannada language films. They are given annually by the Government of Karnataka to honor the best talent and to provide encouragement and incentive to the Kannada film industry. The awards are decided by a committee, headed by a panel of judges. The jury usually consists of eminent personalities from the film field. The awards intend to promote films with artistic values and to encourage artists, technicians and producers. Flashback (narrative)
A flashback (sometimes called an analepsis) is an interjected scene that takes the narrative back in time from the current point in the story. In the opposite direction, a flashforward (or prolepsis) reveals events that will occur in the future. ''Chodhyam'' is an unreleased Indian Malayalam-language film directed by G. S. Vijayan, starring Mohanlal, Rahman and Rupini. The film was made in the year 1990. The film is a remake of 1989 Kannada movie '' Tarka'', which was based on the 1958 Agatha Christie play '' The Unexpected Guest''. The producer of this movie, R.B.Choudary had earlier produced the Tamil remake version of the Kannada movie in 1990 titled ''Puriyaadha Pudhir''. ''Puriyaadha Puthir'' () is a 1990 Indian Tamil-language mystery thriller film written and directed by K. S. Ravikumar in his directorial debut. It is a remake of the 1989 Kannada film '' Tarka'' which was based on Agatha Christie's 1958 play, '' The Unexpected Guest''. The film, produced by R. B. Choudary, was released on 7 September 1990.
