Tanjung Manis District
Tanjung Manis is a district, in Mukah Division, Sarawak, Malaysia. The capital of the district is the Belawai town. History The Tanjung Manis District was originally named "Belawai sub-district" on 7 April 1973 and was placed under the administration of Sarikei Division. On 1 March 2002, Belawai sub-district was placed under the administration of Mukah Division. On 11 February 2008, Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) was launched. The town of Tanjung Manis is designated as halal food hub and Tanjung Manis Integrated Port was built here. On 1 August 2015, the Belawai sub-district was concurrently upgraded into a district and renamed to Tanjung Manis District. With the development of the town of Tanjung Manis, it is planned that the administrative capital of Tanjung Manis District would be moved from Belawai to Tanjung Manis town in the future. Mukah Division is one of the twelve administrative divisions in Sarawak, Malaysia. It was established on 1 March 2002 and it has a total area of 6,997.61 square kilometres. Sarikei Division is one of the twelve administrative divisions in Sarawak, Malaysia. Formerly part of the Third Division, which included Sibu and Kapit, Sarikei Division has a total area of , and is the second smallest of the administrative divisions of Sarawak. Sarikei Division contains four administrative districts: Sarikei, Meradong, Julau and Pakan. History and background The early history of Sarikei can be traced as far back as the early 19th century. The Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy ("SCORE") is an economic region and development corridor covering central Sarawak, a Malaysian State on the island of Borneo. SCORE was launched in 2008. It is one of the five regional development corridors launched throughout Malaysia during the Abdullah Badawi administration. SCORE is managed by the Regional Corridors Development Authority ("RECODA"), a state government agency created through an Ordinance of the State Legislative Assembly. Melanau or ''A-Likou'' (meaning River people in Mukah dialect) is an ethnic group indigenous to Sarawak, Malaysia. They are among the earliest settlers of Sarawak. They speak in the Melanau language, which is a part of the North Bornean branch of Malayo-Polynesian languages. ''Penaeus monodon'', commonly known as the giant tiger prawn, Asian tiger shrimp, black tiger shrimp, and other names, is a marine crustacean that is widely reared for food. Sibu
Sibu (; Hokchew Romanized: ''Sĭ-bŭ'') is a landlocked city in the central region of Sarawak. It is the capital of Sibu District in Sibu Division, Sarawak, Malaysia. The city is located on the island of Borneo and covers an area of . It is located at the confluence of the Rajang and Igan Rivers, some 60 kilometres from the South China Sea and approximately north-east of the state capital Kuching.
