Taastrup Campus (University Of Copenhagen)
Taastrup Campus is a university campus operated by University of Copenhagen (UCPH) in Taastrup on the western outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark. The campus is home to space-consuming activities of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science (including the University Teaching Hospital for Large Animals) and the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences whose Section for Crop Sciences along with experimental fields, greenhouses and an extensive pometum. History The campus traces its history back to the 1960s when Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University acquired four farms outside Taastrup. One of them was Højbakkegård. whose land was laid out as experimental fields. An extensive pometum was also laid out in the grounds as part of the NordGen collaboration. Taastrup () is a Danish railway town or/and suburb of Copenhagen - 15 km west of the capital's city centre, and formerly the administrative seat of Høje-Taastrup Municipality, Region Hovedstaden. It takes its name from the village of Taastrup Valby, which also gave its name to the station established in 1859, from which the town grew. The UCPH School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science (UCPH Vetschool) is part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at University of Copenhagen (UCPH) in Copenhagen, Denmark. Based at the university's Frederiksberg Campus in Frederiksberg and the Taastrup Campus in the suburb of Taastrup, the school originates in the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University which was merged into UCPH in 2007. Arboretum
An arboretum (plural: arboreta) in a general sense is a botanical collection composed exclusively of trees of a variety of species. Steen Eiler Rasmussen, Hon. FAIA (9 January 1898 – 19 June 1990) was a Danish architect and urban planner who was a professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and a prolific writer of books and poetry. He was made a Royal Designer for Industry by the British Royal Society of Arts in 1947. Early life and education Steen Eiler Rasmussen was born on 19 February 1898 in Copenhagen to Lieutenant colonel and later general Christian Rasmussen and Anna Dorthea (Dori) Jung. He first apprenticed as a mason and then studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1916 to 1918. In 1919 he set up his own practice. Mogens Koch (2 March 1898 – 16 September 1992) was a Danish architect and furniture designer and, from 1950 to 1968, a professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Early life and education Mogens Koch was Koch in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen. He attended the architecture school at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, and between 1925 and 1932 worked for Carl Petersen, Ivar Bentsen and Kaare Klint, where he was trained in the Danish functional tradition.
