Stein Inge Brækhus
Stein Inge Brækhus (born 12 February 1967 in Trondheim, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (drums) and record producer, known from a series of album releases and as a key musician at the Jazz scenes of Stavanger and Bergen. Career Brækhus grew up and lives in Os close to Bergen, where he was recognised as a promising drummer at an early age, in bands like "Creation" (1982–84), "Chippie" (1982–84), debuted at Molde Festival 1984 with Oslo band "Celeste", together with the well known jazz musicians Bendik Hofseth and Øystein Sevåg, and was known throughout Norway as a member of the successful band Cutting Edge (1984–86) from Oslo, and the bands Night & Day, Hot Cargo, Knut Kristiansen, Daniel Amaro, Bergen Big Band, Dabrhahi, Jan Ove Nordeide in Bergen, og Silje Nergaard's "Mellow Yellow" and Olga Konkova Trio in Oslo, in Sweden with the band "barT" along with the American pianist Jim Beard, and otherwise with Nils Petter Molvær, Jan Bang, "Trio de Janeiro". Trondheim
Trondheim ( , , ; sma, Tråante), historically Kaupangen, Nidaros and Trondhjem (), is a city and municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. Jan Bang (born 21 August 1968) is a Norwegian musician and record producer who has worked with Morten Harket, Sidsel Endresen, David Sylvian, Nils Petter Molvær, Arild Andersen, Bugge Wesseltoft, Arve Henriksen, and Erik Honoré. (in Norwegian) Career Bang played with Erik Honoré in "Woodlands" (Extended play, EP, 1988), and they have released two albums (2000, 2001). Tone Lise Moberg
Tone Lise Moberg (born 1 April 1970 in Os, Hordaland, Norway) is a Norwegian singer and song teacher. Biography Moberg acquired jazz by writing songs at the piano and doing her own versions of jazz standards. She studied jazz at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, formed several bands, and performed on jazzfestivals and jazzclubs in Norway. She also lived and performed in England for many years as song student of the Leeds City College. She was based in Trondheim for some years while attending the Jazz program at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), before settling down in Bergen. Here she studied at the Grieg Academy. Kenneth Sivertsen (musician)
Kenneth Sivertsen (16 January 1961 – 24 December 2006) was a Norwegian musician, composer, poet, and comedian. Background Born in Mosterhamn, a small settlement on the Norwegian island of Bømlo, Sivertsen made a musical debut playing the bass guitar at a Christmas party at age 8. Years later he went on to form the group ''One Two Three'' together with his friends. After secondary school he went on to attend Voss Folk High School, where he expanded his musical sensibilities. Several of the guitar pieces he composed at this time went on to be released on his album ''Spør Vinden'' (1988). In 1981 he composed his first symphony, ''Håp'' (Hope), which would go on to be performed by the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. Ivar Kolve
Ivar Kolve (born 31 March 1967) is a Norwegian jazz musician (xylophone, vibraphone, marimba and percussion), the younger brother of the saxophonist Kåre Kolve, and known from several album releases as soloartist and for collaborations with Maria Joao, Jan Gunnar Hoff, Ståle Storløkken, Mathias Eick, Eivind Aarset and Bjørn Kjellemyr among others. Career Kolve was born in Voss but since 1988 has lived in Bergen, where he was educated at the Bergen Musikkonservatorium. With his own Trio Ivar Kolve Trio (established in 1996) Sébastien Dubé (bass) and Stein Inge Brækhus (drums), he has released a number of albums. Ole Jacob Hystad
Ole Jacob Hystad (born 20 July 1960) is a Norwegian jazz musician (tenor saxophone and clarinet). He was born in Stord, and is the brother of jazz saxophonist Jan Kåre Hystad. Career Hystad is leader of his own Ole Jacob Hystad Quartet, originally comprising additional Sigurd Ulveseth (bass), Ben Besiakov, (piano), and Stein Inge Brækhus (drums). Later the quartet substituted Brækhus with Alex Riel for their second album ''Tune in – take out'' (2002), and has lately consisted of Dag Arnesen (piano), Sigurd Ulveseth (bass) and Frank Jakobsen (drums). He also played in Bakeriet Bluesband, and on releases by the musicians Atle Hansen, Lars Erik Drevvatne and Ole Amund Gjersvik, and been at the forefront of Stord Jazz and Blues Festival. Karl Seglem
Karl Seglem (born 8 July 1961 in Årdalstangen, Norway) is a Norwegian Jazz musician (saxophone and bukkehorn), composer and producer, known from a series of combined jazz and traditional music releases, as well as leading his own record label NorCD from 1991. Career Seglem was educated on the Music program at Voss Folk High School (1978–80), followed by cooperation with Arvid Genius, «Jan Grieg Qvartet», Kenneth Sivertsen (1980–92) and Knut Kristiansen (during the 1980s) in Bergen. Ole Thomsen (born 28 November 1952 in Bergen, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (guitar) and composer, known from a number of releases and since 1977 central on the Bergen jazz scene. (in Norwegian) He is the older brother of another Bergen Guitarist, Kåre Thomsen. Karoline Krüger
Karoline Krüger (born 13 February 1970 in Bergen, Norway) is a Norwegian singer, actress and composer. Career Krüger's first TV appearance was at the age of 11, in a youth show called ''Halvsju''. She got her breakthrough in 1988, first by winning the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix with the song "For vår jord" ("For Our Earth"), still a student at Langhaugen Skole (1986–89). This qualified her for the Eurovision Song Contest 1988 final, held that year in the Irish capital Dublin, where she finished fifth. Later that same year she released her debut CD, ''Fasetter''.
