Kenneth Sivertsen (musician)
Kenneth Sivertsen (16 January 1961 – 24 December 2006) was a Norwegian musician, composer, poet, and comedian. Background Born in Mosterhamn, a small settlement on the Norwegian island of Bømlo, Sivertsen made a musical debut playing the bass guitar at a Christmas party at age 8. Years later he went on to form the group ''One Two Three'' together with his friends. After secondary school he went on to attend Voss Folk High School, where he expanded his musical sensibilities. Several of the guitar pieces he composed at this time went on to be released on his album ''Spør Vinden'' (1988). In 1981 he composed his first symphony, ''Håp'' (Hope), which would go on to be performed by the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. Throughout the 1980s Sivertsen would become nationally known through several TV appearances and radio broadcasts, as well as musical tours with Jan Eggum, among others. Bømlo
Bømlo is a municipality in the southwestern part of Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Sunnhordland. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Svortland. Other villages in Bømlo include Mosterhamn, Rubbestadneset, Lykling, and Langevåg. Most of the municipal residents live on the island of Bømlo, which makes up the majority of the land in the municipality. Jon Fosse
Jon Olav Fosse (born 29 September 1959) is a Norwegian author and dramatist. Biography Jon Fosse was born in Haugesund, Norway. A serious accident at age seven brought him close to death; the experience significantly influenced his adulthood writing. He enrolled in the University of Bergen and studied comparative literature. His debut novel, ''Raudt, svart'' (''Red, Black''), was published in 1983, written in Nynorsk, which at that time was the common written language only in western Norway (it has since become one of the two official written languages of the country). His first play, ''Og aldri skal vi skiljast'' (''And We'll Never Be Parted''), was performed and published in 1994. NorCD
NorCD (established 1991 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian record label for folk, jazz, world music and improvisational music, led by the founder saxophonist and composer Karl Seglem. NorCD is distributed through Musikkoperatørene, and is a member of FONO. Biography In 1991 Karl Seglem decided to create a new free record label to distribute his music. The company soon enlisted a number of Norwegian performers in different genres. A derivation of the company was the label SOFA, which focused on the European improv, led by Ingar Zach and Ivar Grydeland. The NorCD catalog features 110 CD-titles (spring 2012) with many of the foremost Norwegian jazz and folk musicians. Den Nationale Scene ( en, National Theater) is the largest theatre in Bergen, Norway. Den Nationale Scene is also one of the oldest permanent theatres in Norway. Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra
The Oslo Philharmonic (Oslo-Filharmonien) is a Norwegian symphony orchestra based in Oslo, Norway. The orchestra traces its roots to the Philharmonic Society founded in 1847 and the Christiania Musical Association co-founded by Edvard Grieg in 1871, and was established in its current form in 1919.
