Ole Thomsen
Ole Thomsen (born 28 November 1952 in Bergen, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (guitar) and composer, known from a number of releases and since 1977 central on the Bergen jazz scene. (in Norwegian) He is the older brother of another Bergen Guitarist, Kåre Thomsen. Career The Jazz fusion inspired Thomson has contributed on at least 19 releases, such as in ''The Gambian/Norwegian Friendship Orchestra'', Orchestra Ny Bris with Olav Dale, Per Jørgensen, Frank Jakobsen, Kåre Garnes og Dag Arnesen and ''Thomsens Loosebox'' with Ivar Kolve, Stein Inge Brækhus and Yngve Moe. Kåre Thomsen
Kåre Thomsen (born 30 December 1959) is a Norwegian Jazz musician (guitar) and graphic designer, known for a number of releases and is active on the Bergen jazz scene performing with musicians like Karl Seglem, Vigleik Storaas and Terje Isungset. He is the younger brother of the acclaimed Bergen guitarist Ole Thomsen. Career Thomsen was born in Bergen. Yngve Moe
Yngve Moe (4 October 1957 – 17 April 2013) was a Norwegian bass guitarist and founding member of the rock band Dance with a Stranger. Career He started his career in the band Erter, Kjøtt og Flesk (1971–1975), in his home town of Tromsø. The band broke up in February 1975 after a job in Skien where they were support act for Fairport Convention. During one of the breaks, one of the band members was caught stealing a raw steak, and since Moe was not yet 18 years old, the legal age for prosecution in Norway, he was brought home by his father, ending the band's career. In 1978, Moe moved to Bergen with fellow musicians and friends Bjørn Vassnes and Turid Pedersen, the latter two starting the band Nøkken together with Hans Petter Gundersen. Helge Lilletvedt
Helge Lilletvedt (born 13 June 1964 in Bergen, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz pianist, keyboardist, composer and arranger, known from collaborations and album releases with Herborg Kråkevik, Anne Dorte Michelsen, Vamp, Göran Fristorp, Terje Rypdal, Vigleik Storaas, Arve Henriksen, Per Jørgensen, Olav Dale, Helén Eriksen, Ole Amund Gjersvik. Vossajazz
Vossajazz or Vossa Jazz (established 19 December 1973) is an international jazz festival in Voss, Norway, which takes place annually during the week before Easter, and which also includes concerts throughout the year. The festival has been led by Trude Storheim since August 2007. History The first festival in 1974 was held the same weekend as the World Cup in Alpine skiing at Voss. The idea was that ski and jazz fit together. Since 1986 the festival has always taken place during the palm weekend. From 2007, the festival director has been Trude Storheim. Bergen Blues Band (1974 - 1984) was a Norwegian blues band from Bergen, Norway. Biography The band was founded and led by John Magnar Bernes (vocalist and harmonica player, alias «Hungry John»), along with Per Jørgensen on guitar (replaced by Ole Thomsen in 1981), Kåre Sandvik on piano (1974–81), Edvard Askeland bass (replaced by Rune Rønning in 1981, and later Atle Mjørlaug 1983), and Frank Jakobsen drums (replaced by Willy Korneliussen in 1976). Sonet Records
Sonet Records was a jazz, pop and rock record label operating as an imprint of Universal Music Sweden. It was founded in Sweden in 1956. Sonet Records was established by Sven Lindholm and Gunnar Bergström, who managed the label into the 1980s. Dag Haeggqvist, the owner of Gazell Records, became an executive of the label in 1960, and Sonet eventually acquired Gazell's catalogue. It was distributed by Pickwick Records in North America in the 1960s, where it was involved in releasing some of Bill Haley's latter-day material. The label set up offices throughout Europe, including the United Kingdom. It also expanded into film, video, and other visual arts in addition to music. Ole Paus
Ole Paus (born 9 February 1947; full name ''Ole Christian Paus'') is a Norwegian singer, songwriter, poet and author, who is widely regarded as the foremost troubadour of the contemporary Norwegian ballad tradition ( no, visebølgen). During the 1970s Paus was known for his biting social commentary, especially in his ironic and sometimes libellous "musical newspapers" in the form of broadside ballads in a series of albums titled "The Paus Post". Kari Bremnes (born 9 December 1956) is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. She got an MA in language, literature, history and theatre studies from the University of Oslo, and worked as a journalist for several years before deciding to dedicate herself to music full-time. In 1987 she received the Spellemann Award (Spellemannprisen) for the record ''Mitt ville hjerte'', and in 1991 for the record ''Spor''.
