Vamp (band)
Vamp (initiated in 1990) is a folk-rock band from Haugesund, Norway with founding members Øyvind Staveland, Calle Øyvind Apeland, Paul Hansen, Bjørn Berge, Odin Staveland and Tore Jamne. The band's musical profile is a mix of Norwegian traditional folk music combined with rock. Biography Vamp have released 11 studio albums, collected ten gold records, three platinum records, two triple platinum and been awarded Spellemannprisen five times. After the success of ''I full symfoni'', which is a live album from concerts with Kringkastingsorkesteret, they were named the spellemann of the year at the Spellemannprisen award in 2006. They have a large and loyal fan base in power of both their music and the Norwegian lyrics. Most of the lyrics are written by Norwegian poets and writers. Haugesund () is a municipality on the North Sea in Rogaland county, Norway. While the population is greater in the neighboring Karmøy municipality, the main commercial and economic centre of the Haugaland region in northern Rogaland and southern Vestland is in Haugesund. The majority of the population of Haugesund lives in the Haugesund urban area in the municipality's southwest. The majority of the municipality outside this area is rural or undeveloped. Madrugada (band)
Madrugada is a Norwegian alternative rock band formed in the town of Stokmarknes in 1993. The key band members included Sivert Høyem (vocals), Robert Burås (guitar) and Frode Jacobsen (bass). After Burås' death on 12 July 2007, Høyem and Jacobsen decided to finish recording what was to be their final album with the original lineup. On 21 January 2008, the band released '' Madrugada'' and announced that they would split after one last tour. They performed their final concert of this tour on 15 November 2008. In June 2018 it was announced that Høyem, Jacobsen and Lauvland Pettersen had reformed the band for a series of shows in 2019. According to Anders Kaasen of Allmusic, the band was noted for "its bareboned blues-inspired alt-rock" at the end of the 1990s. The Norwegian Radio Orchestra (Norwegian, ''Kringkastingsorkestret'', abbreviated as KORK) is a radio orchestra affiliated with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (''Norsk rikskringkasting AS'', or NRK). Kolbein Falkeid (19 December 1933 – 27 June 2021) was a Norwegian poet and lyricist. He was one of the most widely read contemporary Norwegian poets; known for a lyrical poet's voice that is at once philosophical and approachable. Biography Kolbein Falkeid was born in Haugesund, Norway. From 1962 onwards, he published over thirty titles, including his play ''The Terrorists'' (1980), which has been performed in Bergen, Norway at Den Nationale Scene, as well as in Japan, New York City, and Tel Aviv. Falkeid retired from a longstanding position teaching Norwegian language and literature at a public school in his hometown of Haugesund on the West Coast of Norway.
