Star Trak Real Time
Star Trak was a real-time bus information system operating in Leicester and Derby between 2000 and 2011. It was run by the Leicester City Council. History Star Trak was created in 2000 by Leicester City Council to provide its citizens with a real-time system. The system counts down the departure time to the next bus's arrival. In 2004, the system was in use for over thirty bus routes. At that time, the system was a partnership between Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council, Arriva Midlands, First, Kinchbus, and Trentbarton. The current system is provided by Germany's INIT, specialists in transportation telematics and fare collection systems, and the signs are supplied by Swedish company Poltech. Over the 10 years the system expanded to cover most Arriva and First Services in Leicester and Leicestershire. Derby ( ) is a city and unitary authority area in Derbyshire, England. It lies on the banks of the River Derwent in the south of Derbyshire, which is in the East Midlands Region. Leicester City Council
Leicester City Council is a unitary authority responsible for local government in the city of Leicester, England. It consists of 54 councillors, representing 22 wards in the city, overseen by a directly elected mayor. Leicestershire County Council is the county council for the English non-metropolitan county of Leicestershire. It was originally formed in 1889 by the Local Government Act 1888. Kinchbus
Kinchbus is a bus operator in Loughborough, England. Since 1998 it has been a subsidiary of the Wellglade Group. History Kinchbus was founded in 1987 by former Leicester City Football Club director Gilbert Kinch trading as GK Kinch and based in Barrow Upon Soar. Before moving into local bus services, Kinch had operated coaches from nearby Mountsorrel since at least 1972. In the early 1990s Kinchbus began to expand with services around Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire, including the purchase of Loughborough Bus and Coach from Midland Fox, giving the company its presence in Loughborough. INIT (company)
National Ticketing Solution (NTS) is a public transport payment system in development for New Zealand. It is contracted to American company Cubic. It is expected to start roll out in the Canterbury region in 2024 and available nationwide by 2026. It was previously known by various names such as Project NEXT, the National Ticketing Programme (NTP), the Auckland Integrated Ticketing Scheme (AITS) and Auckland Integrated Fares System (AIFS) prior to that. The aim is to achieve a nationally consistent payment system, with a choice of payment by cash, phone, credit card, debit card, or a transit card valid for the whole country. Whilst work at a national level has been undertaken since 2009, work is still ongoing.
