British Bus was a bus group in the United Kingdom. It was sold to the Cowie Group in August 1996. History British Bus was founded in November 1992 when the Drawlane Transport Group split its bus interests from its National Express in the lead up to the stock market listing of the latter. British Bus' owner had proposed floating the company on the stock exchange, however this was cancelled and the business sold to the Cowie Group in August 1996. London Country South East (LCSE) was a bus operator in South East England and London. It was formed from the split of London Country Bus Services in 1986 and operated a fleet of around 170 buses from four garages, with its headquarters located in Northfleet. It was rebranded as Kentish Bus in 1987 and used this name for most of its existence. Its former garages and operations now form part of Arriva Southern Counties and Arriva London. Stevensons of Uttoxeter was a bus company that operated in Staffordshire from 1926 to 1997. History On 11 September 1926, John Stevenson commenced operating a bus service from Uttoxeter to Burton upon Trent. In 1971, the business passed to John's son George, who was shortly joined by his son David. In 1977, the fleet comprised 40 buses. In 1983, George sold his 50% share of the business to Julian Peddle. On 1 October 1985, Stevensons merged its bus operations with that of East Staffordshire District Council, with Stevenson and Peddle owning 51% and the council 49%. Arriva Northumbria
Arriva Northumbria operates in Northumberland, using the "Arriva serving Northumbria" name. They are considered now to have merged with Arriva North East. Brief history United Automobile Services split into two parts in 1986, making it ready for privatisation. In October 1987 Northumbria was bought from National Bus Company by its management, using Proudmutual Group as a holding name. In March 1988 Proudmutual Group bought Kentish Bus.
