Shanghai Expo Mart
The Shanghai Expo Mart (), formerly the Africa Joint Pavilion (), is an exhibition hall near the Huangpu River in Shanghai, China. The hall was originally constructed for Expo 2010 and consists of of indoor area and of outdoor space. The hall underwent renovation after the expo, with renovations finishing in November 2011. Africa Joint Pavilion The Shanghai Expo Mart was originally constructed for Expo 2010 as the Africa Joint Pavilion. It was built as a collaboration with Chinese and African people, and was completed in September 2009. The pavilion had a large, abstract mural of trees painted on the side of the building. The mural was nearing completion on June 11, 2009, and was shown on the building during the expo. The site was used to showcase the development and culture of cities in Africa. Pudong
Pudong is a district of Shanghai located east of the Huangpu, the river which flows through central Shanghai. The name ''Pudong'' was originally applied to the Huangpu's east bank, directly across from the west bank or Puxi, the historic city center. It now refers to the broader Pudong New Area, a state-level new area which extends all the way to the East China Sea. Shanghainese
The Shanghainese language, also known as the Shanghai dialect, or Hu language, is a variety of Wu Chinese spoken in the Districts of Shanghai, central districts of the Shanghai, City of Shanghai and its surrounding areas. It is classified as part of the Sino-Tibetan language family. Shanghainese, like the rest of the Wu language group, is mutually unintelligible with other varieties of Chinese, such as Mandarin. The Huangpu (), formerly romanized as Whangpoo, is a river flowing north through Shanghai. The Bund and Lujiazui are located along the Huangpu River. The Huangpu is the biggest river in central Shanghai, with the Suzhou Creek being its major tributary. Expo 2010, officially the Expo 2010 Shanghai China, was held on both banks of the Huangpu River in Shanghai, China, from 1 May to 31 October 2010. It was a major World Expo registered by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), in the tradition of international fairs and expositions, the first since 2005. The theme of the exposition was ''"Better City – Better Life"'' and signifies Shanghai's new status in the 21st century as the "next great world city".
