Svendborg Station
Svendborg railway station ( da, Svendborg Banegård og ''Svendborg Station'') is the principal railway station serving the town of Svendborg on the island of Funen, Denmark. The station was built in 1876 for the opening of Svendborgbanen July 12, 1876. The main building is designed by N. P. C. Holsøe. The building was opened July 10, 1878. The station building contains a DSB kiosk and a DSB travel agency. The kiosk has since been converted to a 7-Eleven store. DSB tickets are available for purchase in the 7-Eleven store. There also is a Fynbus customer service center that sells bus passes. The station contains an indoor waiting area, however the travel agency no longer is in operation. The Fynbus local city bus stop is located on the street side of the station, and the regional bus station is located on the opposite side of the tracks. Svendborgbanen
Svendborgbanen is the railway line between Odense and Svendborg, inaugurated on 12 July 1876. The line was established by Sydfyenske Jernbaner, and taken over by DSB on 1 April 1949. Since 13 December 2020, the line has been managed by Arriva, a private multinational company. During the daytime, two trains each hour drive the stretch between Odense and Svendborg in both directions that do not stop at all stations (only one train in the evening hours). Additionally, a train drives between Odense and Ringe once an hour, during day and evening hours, in both directions that stop at all stations. DSB (railway Company)
DSB, an abbreviation of ''Danske Statsbaner'' (, ''Danish State Railways''), is the largest Danish train operating company, and the largest in Scandinavia. While DSB is responsible for passenger train operation on most of the Danish railways, goods transport and railway maintenance are outside its scope. DSB runs a commuter rail system, called the S-train, in the area around the Danish capital, Copenhagen, that connects the different areas and suburbs in the greater metropolitan area. Funen ( da, Fyn, ), with an area of , is the third-largest island of Denmark, after Zealand and Vendsyssel-Thy. It is the 165th-largest island in the world. Ærøskøbing
Ærøskøbing () is a town in central Denmark, located in Ærø Municipality on the island of Ærø. The suffix - købing means a trade town in the languages that derive from Old Norse. Ærøskøbing's houses and streets are delicately restored to retain the character of the olden days. Most of them are one story tall, and the oldest ones date back to 1645. In the old part of the town are many fine examples of the work of skilled bricklayers, carpenters, and blacksmiths.
