Sublime Magazine
''Sublime'' is an international sustainable lifestyle magazine. It is an independent bi-monthly print publication dedicated to making sustainability appealing. The magazine is based and published in Highgate, North London, and it is distributed in print to more than 30 countries worldwide. The company is subsidised solely by advertising and sales of the printed and digital copies. History Sublime was founded in 2004 by husband-and-wife Damian and Laura Santamaria. In March 2004, they gathered a group of 30 media industry people to test their concept. Out of these discussions, the core contributors team was formed. The concept was then promoted through events, thinktank meetings and the launch of the website. By 2005, ''Sublime'' had a group of 300 opinion-makers from around the world who were willing to be involved in spreading the ''Sublime'' philosophy. Highgate
Highgate ( ) is a suburban area of north London at the northeastern corner of Hampstead Heath, north-northwest of Charing Cross. Highgate is one of the most expensive London suburbs in which to live. It has two active conservation organisations, the ''Highgate Society'' and the ''Highgate Neighbourhood Forum'' to protect and enhance its character and amenities. Until late Victorian times it was a distinct village outside London, sitting astride the main road to the north. IWC International Watch Co. AG, also known as IWC Schaffhausen, is a Swiss watch manufacturer located in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. Originally founded by American watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones in 1868, IWC has been a subsidiary of the Swiss Richemont Group since 2000. Frances Corner
Frances Marie Corner, ( Agnew; born 25 February 1959) is a British art and design historian and academic, specialising in fashion. Since 2019, she has been Warden of Goldsmiths, University of London. On 23 November 2020, staff announced a vote of no confidence in Prof. Corner, the no-confidence motion being backed by 87% of those who voted. In June 2022, her use of expenses at Goldsmiths was brought into question when it was revealed that she had spent nearly £20k of College money on taxis over 2 years. She was previously head of the London College of Fashion from 2005 to 2019, and a pro vice-chancellor of University of the Arts London from 2013 to 2019. She taught at the University of Gloucestershire and London Metropolitan University, before joining the London College of Fashion. Wayne Andrew Hemingway (born 19 January 1961) is an English designer and co-founder of Red or Dead. He is also on the Design Council Trustee Board and having been with the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) for a decade since its inception (as Chair of Building For Life) is now on the Design Council CABE Committee. Hemingway is a Professor in The Built Environment Department of Northumbria University, a Doctor of Design at Wolverhampton, Lancaster and Stafford, a Fellow of Blackburn College and a Senior Fellow of Regent's University London. Sustainability
Specific definitions of sustainability are difficult to agree on and have varied in the literature and over time. The concept of sustainability can be used to guide decisions at the global, national, and individual levels (e.g. sustainable living). Sustainability is commonly described as having three dimensions (also called pillars): environmental, economic, and social. Fair trade is an arrangement designed to help producers in developing countries achieve sustainable and equitable trade relationships. The fair trade movement combines the payment of higher prices to exporters with improved social and environmental standards. The movement focuses in particular on commodities, or products that are typically exported from developing countries to developed countries but is also used in domestic markets (e.g., Brazil, the United Kingdom and Bangladesh), most notably for handicrafts, coffee, cocoa, wine, sugar, fruit, flowers and gold.
