Store Magleby
Store Magleby is a Danish town, seat with Dragør of the Dragør Municipality, in the Region Hovedstaden. Its population in 2009 was 2,000. History Traces of an early Iron Age settlement from about the year 200 AD have been found just south east of Store Magleby Church. In 1521 Christian II invited Dutch-speaking families (from especially Nieuwpoort and Mechelen in present-day Belgium) to settle in the parish and grow vegetables. On arrival they received existing farms. It is used to be thought that they came from Waterland, but nowadays it is believed the origins of at least some of the settlers lay elsewhere in the present-day Netherlands or even Flanders. Dutch continued in use in the village until the early 19th century, and it is still colloquially named Hollænderbyen ('Dutch town'). The Copenhagen metropolitan area or Metropolitan Copenhagen (, , literally "The Capital Area") is a large commuter belt (the area in which it is practical to commute to work) surrounding Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. Henrik Wenzel (born April 28, 1956) is a Danish engineer and head of SDU Life Cycle Engineering at University of Southern Denmark (SDU). Career Earlier career Henrik Wenzel was trained as a chemical engineer from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in 1982. Asta Hansen
Asta Hansen (20 December 1914 – 21 October 1962) was a Danish stage and film actress. Asta Betty Hansen was born in Store Magleby to Grete Sofie (née Lundqvist) and Arthur Jørgen Hansen. She first acted in pantomimes and then in 1934 appeared at the Folketeatret, Copenhagen. She subsequently appeared in many revues and operettas but her career became less busy in the 1950s. She was married to Gottfred Havsteen who was also her manager. Copenhagen ( ) is the capital and most populous city of Denmark, with a population of 1.4 million in the Urban area of Copenhagen, urban area. Tårnby
Tårnby () is a town in Denmark, the seat of Tårnby Municipality in the Capital Region of Denmark. It is located approximately south of central Copenhagen on the island of Amager. Neighbouring settlements include the Copenhagen suburb of Sundbyvester to the north and Kastrup to the south. Copenhagen Airport is situated to the east of Tårnby. It includes the islets Saltholm and Peberholm. History There is no clear date for the founding of Tårnby, but archaeological expeditions prior to the building of the Øresund Bridge suggest that the first traces of Tårnby originated around the 12th century around a farm from which the village grew. In the 16th century, Danish King Christian II invited Dutch settlers to Amager. That made Tårnby, like the neighbouring city of Dragør, also have some traces of Dutch history and culture.
