Stop The Islamisation Of Norway
Stop Islamisation of Norway ( no, Stopp islamiseringen av Norge, SIAN) is a Norwegian anti-Muslim group that was established in 2008, although its history goes back to a group started in 2000. Its stated aim is to work against Islam, which it defines as a totalitarian political ideology that violates the Norwegian Constitution as well as democratic and human values. The organisation is currently led by, formerly by Arne Tumyr, and has several thousand members and supporters. By mid-2011, it was reported that the organisation had close to 13,000 members or "likes" on its ''Facebook'' group, although it gathered only a modest attendance at its meetings and demonstrations. The organisation itself had in excess of 3,000 members, mainly based in Oslo but followed by Stavanger. Arne Tumyr
Arne Tumyr (6 March 1933 – 17 February 2023) was a Norwegian journalist, newspaper editor, politician and leader of Stop Islamisation of Norway. Career and activism Tumyr grew up in Ask in Askøy, from where he moved in 1950. He was educated as a baker in 1952, and he started working as a journalist apprentice for the newspaper ''Nordlands Framtid'' in Bodø in 1956. In 1960 he was hired as subeditor in ''Sunnmøre Arbeideravis'', and from 1961 to 1970 he was a journalist in ''Bergens Arbeiderblad''. In 1970 he was hired as editor-in-chief of the Larvik-based newspaper '' Nybrott''. From 1984 to 1986 he edited the newspaper ''Sørlandet''. He published a newspaper called ''Ukeavisen Aktuelt'' from 1986 to 1988, a weekly and free newspaper, unusual in Norway at the time. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Blitz House ( no, Blitzhuset) is an anarchist, communist and socialist self-managed social centre in Oslo, Norway, founded in 1982. Having started as a squat, it is now legalized and based on Pilestredet. The centre hosts activities such as political meetings, a feminist radio station ( radiOrakel), a vegan café and practice rooms for musicians. It started out as a squatted building in Skippergata 6 in downtown Oslo in 1982 and has since been a centre of socialist, communist and anarchist activism. The Norwegian Patriots ( no, NorgesPatriotene, NP) was a short-lived political party in Norway led by Øyvind Heian whose sole aim was to stop non-western immigration to Norway. The party ran for election limited to the county of Vestfold in the 2009 parliamentary election, where it received a mere 184 votes. The disappointing result lead to the party being "put on ice", and on 23 September it was announced that the party was dissolved. Activities In June 2009 Stop Islamisation of Norway (SIAN) was joined by Heian for a rally against Islam in Oslo. The rally was ended before it had started, as the group came in a violent clash with left-wing activists. The police claimed that the left-wing activists were the active part of the clash.
