Steve Norn is a former Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories in the 2019 election. He represented the electoral district of Tu Nedhé-Wiilideh. Prior to his election to the legislature, Norn worked as a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer and as an insurance broker, and competed on ''Canada's Smartest Person ''Canada's Smartest Person'' is a Canadian reality television competition series. The Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly, or Legislative Council of the Northwest Territories (with Northwest hyphenated as North-West until 1906), is the legislature and the seat of government of Northwest Territories in Canada. It is a unicameral elected body that creates and amends law in the Northwest Territories. Permanently located in Yellowknife since 1993, the assembly was founded in 1870 and became active in 1872 with the first appointments from the Government of Canada. Until 2014, the assembly was officially defined under federal law as "Legislative Council". However, under Northwest Territories territorial law, it was defined as "Legislative Assembly". Tom Beaulieu is a Canadian politician, who was a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories from 2007 to 2019. Beaulieu began his political career serving on the Fort Resolution town council. He later became a deputy minister in the Northwest Territories government Housing Dept And served as the Cabinet minister for Health and Social Services and later shuffled to a cabinet minister for Infrastructure in his second term. . Richard Edjericon
Richard Edjericon is a Canadian politician in the Northwest Territories. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories in a 2022 by-election, representing the electoral district of Tu Nedhé-Wiilideh. Edjericon previously ran for the seat in the 2019 election, placing second behind to Steve Norn. Edjericon is a former chief of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation, during which he signed the Akaitcho Framework Agreement. Tu Nedhé-Wiilideh
Tu Nedhé-Wiilideh is a territorial electoral district in the Northwest Territories, Canada, which elects one member to the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories. The district consists of the communities of N'Dilo, Lutselk'e, Fort Resolution and Dettah. It had an estimated population of 1,412 in 2012. The district was created in 2013 when the ridings of Tu Nedhe and Weledeh were merged. It was first contested in the 2015 Northwest Territories general election. Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) Steve Norn was elected in the 2019 territorial election, but in late 2021 became the first MLA to be removed from the Legislature by his colleagues. The 2019 Northwest Territories general election was held on October 1, 2019. Nineteen members were elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories.
