Tu Nedhé-Wiilideh
Tu Nedhé-Wiilideh is a territorial electoral district in the Northwest Territories, Canada, which elects one member to the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories. The district consists of the communities of N'Dilo, Lutselk'e, Fort Resolution and Dettah. It had an estimated population of 1,412 in 2012. The district was created in 2013 when the ridings of Tu Nedhe and Weledeh were merged. It was first contested in the 2015 Northwest Territories general election. Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) Steve Norn was elected in the 2019 territorial election, but in late 2021 became the first MLA to be removed from the Legislature by his colleagues. This event was a consequence of Norn's refusal to follow Covid-19 protocols, and subsequent actions on his part against his colleagues during the ensuing investigation. North Slave Region
The North Slave Region or ''Tłicho Region'' is one of five List of regions of the Northwest Territories, administrative regions in the Northwest Territories of Canada. It is the most populous of the five regions, with a population of almost 23,000. According to Municipal and Community Affairs the region consists of eight communities with the regional office situated in Yellowknife and a sub-office in Behchokǫ̀. Richard Edjericon since 1993.
Richard Edjericon is a Canadian politician in the Northwest Territories. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories in a 2022 by-election, representing the electoral district of Tu Nedhé-Wiilideh. Edjericon previously ran for the seat in the 2019 election, placing second behind to Steve Norn. Edjericon is a former chief of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation, during which he signed the Akaitcho Framework Agreement. Previously, he was also a member of the band council for ten years and was the band housing manager. He has also served six years as the chair of the Mackenzie Valley Impact Review Board. Edjericon has lived in Ndilǫ Ndilǫ is a First Nations community in the North Slave Region of the Northwest Territories, Canada. Steve Norn
Steve Norn is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories in the 2019 election. He represented the electoral district of Tu Nedhé-Wiilideh. Prior to his election to the legislature, Norn worked as a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer and as an insurance broker, and competed on '' Canada's Smartest Person'' in 2016. COVID-19 controversy On April 22, 2021, Norn revealed publicly that he tested positive for COVID-19 a day earlier, saying he chose to reveal his infection because of his public role. Norn had returned from a visit to Alberta on April 4, and was required to self-isolate for 14 days under the territory's COVID-19 protocols, however it was determined that Norn entered the Legislative Assembly on April 17, one day earlier than the self-isolation period expired. Tom Beaulieu is a Canadian politician, who was a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories from 2007 to 2019. Beaulieu began his political career serving on the Fort Resolution town council. 2015 Northwest Territories General Election
The 2015 Northwest Territories general election was held November 23, 2015. Under the territory's Fixed election dates in Canada, fixed election date legislation, the election was supposed to be held on October 5, 2015, however, since the federal election date of October 19, 2015, overlapped with that date, the N.W.T. government moved the date of the territorial election. The election selected 19 members of the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories. Term extension debate In March 2014 the 17th Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly, current Legislative Assembly voted to extend its term from four years to five. The act will need to be approved by the federal government. Weledeh (or Yellowknife - Weledeh) was a territorial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories, Canada. It was one of seven districts that represent Yellowknife, and included the more rural communities of Dettah and N'Dilo. The Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly, or Legislative Council of the Northwest Territories (with Northwest hyphenated as North-West until 1906), is the legislature and the seat of government of Northwest Territories in Canada.
