Simon De La Bretèche
Simon de la Bretèche (07 August 1982 – 12 April 2022) was a pilot, aeronautical engineer and international aerobatic competitor. Biography Simon spent his youth in Ancinnes, Sarthe. He made his debut in aeronautics at the age of 14 at the Aéroclub d'Alençon to which he will always remain attached. Then, he trained in aerobatics at the regional aeroclub of Caen with his instructor/mentor: Patrick Gigot. In 2005, he obtained a Master of Science degree in aeronautics from the Institut polytechnique des sciences avancées. He then worked in Toulouse for Sogeclair Aerospace, an Airbus subcontractor. In May 2020, he was hired by the company Aura Aero as an engineer to work on an aerobatic plane called Integral R. Aerobatic Pilots
Aerobatics is the practice of flying maneuvers involving aircraft attitudes that are not used in conventional passenger-carrying flights. The term is a portmanteau of "aerial" and "acrobatics". Aerobatics are performed in aeroplanes and gliders for training, recreation, entertainment, and sport. Additionally, some helicopters, such as the MBB Bo 105, are capable of limited aerobatic manoeuvres. Air Transport Gendarmerie
The Air Transport Gendarmerie (french: Gendarmerie des Transports Aériens) (GTA) is a branch of the French Gendarmerie placed under the dual supervision of the Gendarmerie and the Directorate General for Civil Aviation of the Transportation Ministry. It has a strength of about 1,100 and is commanded by a senior officer or by a general officer. Its missions are centered on airport security. It also carries out judicial inquiries pertaining to civilian aviation accidents. The GTA was created in 1953 out of existing airport gendarmerie specialist units created from 1946. Baptiste Vignes (15 April 1985 – 12 April 2022) was a french pilot, instructor, and international aerobatics champion. Biography Vignes grew up in Le Havre and obtained his pilot's license at the Le Havre's Jean-Maridor flying club at a young age. He then trained as an aerobatic pilot at the Bernay-Saint-Martin flying club in the Eure department. He died with Simon de la Bretèche following the crash of Aura Aero's "Integral R" aerobatic aircraft prototype during a flight test.
