Shahid Sattari Aeronautical University
The Shahid Sattari University of Aeronautical Engineering or Air University, is Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force's military academy. It was established in 1988 by the IRIAF general Mansour Sattari in Tehran, Iran, due to the necessity of providing a trained and capable manpower to the IRIAF. It trains its students in a numerous variety of subjects and roles related to the air force, such as fighter pilots , UCAV operators, flight & support engineers, radar control, electronics & missile development. Its main departments are a flight school, an aeronautic engineering faculty, an electronic engineering department as well as computing and administrative faculties. The formative period lasts for 4 years. Cadets of the academy achieve the second Lieutenant rank upon graduation and join the IRIAF. Mansour Sattari
Mansour Sattari ( fa, منصور ستاری; also Romanized as Mansoor Sattari) (19 May 1948 – 5 January 1995) was an Iranian Air Force Brigadier general. After serving his compulsory military service in the Army Artillery branch, he joined the Iranian Military Academy and entered the Imperial Iranian Air Force in 1965 in the Ground Force branch. In 1971 he was sent to United States to attend a course in Advanced Radar Control and Battle Management. Upon his return to Iran he was employed as a Radar Defence Control Officer. He implemented many innovative plans to improve radar and counterattack systems that was learnt from the U.S. Air Forces, which proved helpful in disabling offensive capacities of the Iraqi Air Force during the Iran-Iraq War. Israeli Air Force Flight Academy
The Israeli Air Force Flight Academy trains aircrew to operate Israeli Air Force aircraft, qualifying fighter, helicopter and transport pilots as well as combat and transport navigators.
