Sergey Cherepanov
Sergey Cherepanov (russian: Серге́й Черепанов) (born January 25, 1986, in Ridder, Kazakhstan, Ridder) is a Kazakhstani cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skier who has competed since 2001. His best World Cup finish was third in a 15 km event in Finland in 2008. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Cherepanov finished 55th in the Cross-country skiing at the 2006 Winter Olympics – Men's sprint, sprint event. His best finish at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships was tenth in the 4 x 10 km relay at Liberec in FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009, 2009. He finished 11th in the 4 x 10 km relay at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Ridder (russian: Риддер, Rıdder), formerly known as Leninogorsk (russian: Лениногорск) is a city in the East Kazakhstan Region in north-eastern Kazakhstan. FIS Nordic World Ski Championships
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships is a biennial nordic skiing event organized by the International Ski Federation (FIS). The World Championships was started in 1925 for men and opened for women's participation in 1954. World Championship events include nordic skiing's three disciplines: cross-country skiing, ski jumping, and nordic combined (the latter being a combination sport consisting of both cross-country and ski jumping). From 1924 to 1939, the World Championships were held every year, including the Winter Olympics. After World War II, the World Championships were held every four years from 1950 to 1982. Alexey Yurevich Poltoranin ( kk, Алексей Юрьевич Полтаранин, born April 29, 1987) is a Kazakh cross-country skier who has competed at the international senior level since 2004. He has three World Cup wins, one in 2010 and two in 2013. In the 2013 World Championship in Val di Fiemme he won two bronze medals. Most of his best results are in the classic technique. At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 Poltoranin was one of five athletes caught doping by Bundeskriminalamt in a police raid in Seefeld, Austria. He was arrested before the start of the 15 kilometre classical race. He admitted to using blood doping. His wife is biathlete Olga Poltoranina. Nikolay Sergeyevich Chebotko (russian: Николай Сергеевич Чеботько, 25 October 1982 – 24 January 2021) was a Kazakhstani cross-country skier who competed from 2000, until his death. His best individual World Cup finish was fourth in a sprint event in Finland in 2013. Chebotko also competed in four Winter Olympics, earning his best finish of fifth in the team sprint event at Vancouver in 2010. His best finish at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships is bronze medal at Team sprint 2013. Chebotko died in a car accident near Borovoye on 24 January 2021.
