Selkvinnen
''Selkvinnen'' (The Seal Woman) is a Norwegian film from 1953. It was directed by Lauritz Falk and Per Jonson; Falk himself played the lead role in the film. The film script was written by Leif Sinding. Gunnar Sønstevold composed the music for the film. Plot Danish bailiffs rule the Faroe Islands with a firm hand. In Tórshavn resides the bailiff Hammershaimb, who is hard and unapproachable in his civil service, but is caring and loving as a family man. He tries to relieve his daughter Inger's boredom by letting her travel to his new country house, Skardir, while he ponders his administrative problems. First and foremost, it is the royal trade monopoly and its harsh methods that is a source of dissatisfaction, and public opinion against the monopoly is growing stronger. Per Gunnar Jonson
Per Gunnar Jonson (11 April 1910 – 16 October 1975) was a Norwegian cinematographer and ski jumper. Cinematography Jonson shot a short film about skiing in Karpathos, which impressed German director Leni Riefenstahl, and she hired him as an assistant director for the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. He primarily worked as a cinematographer on Norwegian films, in addition to occasionally working as a director and producer. At the end of his career he established his own film production company. Ski jumping In 1934, Per Jonson participated in an international competition at the Bloudek Giant in Planica, making a jump meters long. In another jump, outside the competition, he landed at with a fall. His was one of the best ski jumpers of his time, competing together with legends such as Birger Ruud and his brother Sigmund Ruud. Aagot Børseth
Aagot Børseth (29 November 1898 – 19 December 1993) was a Norwegian actress. Biography Aagot Tangen was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. She made her debut at Rogaland Teater in Stavanger during 1918 as Grete in ''Faddergaven'' by Peter Egge (1869-1959). Later she came to Chat Noir, where she noted herself as the street girl Gusti in ''Flammen''. She came to the Nationaltheatret in 1928 and performed there for 40 years. She made her film debut in ''Felix'' (1921) and participated in numerous Norwegian films including ''Frestelse'' (1940) and ''Selkvinnen'' (1953). She was also a widely used actor on Radioteatret and on television. She was married to Henrik Børseth (1885–1970), who was also an actor at the Nationaltheatret. She died in 1993 and was buried at Vestre gravlund in Oslo. Gunnar Skar
Gunnar Julius Skar (July 5, 1923 – October 12, 2012) was a Norwegian actor and theater director. Career During the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s he worked as an actor and director at the New Theater and its successor, the Oslo New Theater. Skar also worked as a director for the Norwegian Theater and performed as an actor at the National Theatre in Oslo. He played two minor roles in the films ''To mistenkelige personer'' (1950) and '' Selkvinnen'' (1953). Family Skar was born in Skjeberg, the son of Andreas Barnholdt Skar (1892–1990) and Esther Ulrikke Skar (née Johannessen, 1894–1988). He died in 2012 and is buried in Oslo's Western Cemetery. Lauritz Falk
Lauritz Falk (15 November 1909 – 1 February 1990) was a Swedish-Norwegian actor, film director, singer and painter. He appeared in about 60 roles in films and TV between 1923 and 1989. He is the cousin of the Swedish artist Bertram Schmiterlöw. He was married to actress Vibeke Mowinckel 1937–1950. From 1955 until his death he was married to the singer Birgit Lennartsson. Leif Sinding
Leif Sinding (19 November 1895 – 13 May 1985) was a Norwegian film director and journalist. He worked for the newspapers ''Verdens Gang'', ''Aftenposten'', and ''Morgenbladet''. Among his silent films are ''Himmeluret'' from 1925, based on Gabriel Scott's comedy, and ''Fjeldeventyret'' from 1926. He directed the film ''Bra mennesker'' (1937), based on a play by Oskar Braaten, and the films ''De vergeløse'' (1939) and ''Tante Pose'' (1940), both based on novels by Gabriel Scott. In 1941 he directed the comedy '' Kjærlighet og vennskap''. During the German occupation of Norway Sinding collaborated with the Axis forces, was a member of Nasjonal Samling, and was sentenced to four years forced labour after the war. Hjalmar Fries Schwenzen (April 16, 1891 – December 14, 1973) was a Norwegian actor and theater director. He had his film debut in '' Pan'' in 1922. Fries was employed at the National Theater in the 1920s, and he was the theater director at the Oslo New Theater from 1934 to 1935. Eugen Skjønberg
Conrad Eugen Skjønberg (March 27, 1889 – July 25, 1971) was a Norwegian actor. Eugen Skjønberg was married to the actress Henny Skjønberg. They resided at Ramstad. He was the father of Per Skjønberg, Pål Skjønberg, and Espen Skjønberg, and the grandfather of Hennika Skjønberg, Siv Skjønberg, and Jo Skjønberg, all of whom were actors and actresses. Skjønberg started his career in the banking industry in Kragerø and Skien, but in his twenties he was discovered in the amateur theater by a dance teacher, who recommended him to Alma Fahlstrøm in 1913. Fahlstrøm referred him to Sophie Reimers for training, as well as for singing lessons with Maja Flagstad. Lydia Marie Opøien (November 4, 1894 – November 24, 1961) was a Norwegian actress. Gunnar Sønstevold
Gunnar Sønstevold (26 November 1912 – 18 October 1991) was a Norwegian composer. He was born in Elverum, and married composer Maj Sønstevold in 1941. He composed orchestral works, vocal music, chamber music, and music to a number of plays, ballets and films. He headed the Music Department of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation/Television from 1966 to 1974. He was awarded Filmkritikerprisen in 1955, for the film ''Det brenner i natt!''. He received the Arts Council Norway music prize in 1972, and Radioteatret's honorary prize in 1987. Career Sønstevold studied music in Oslo, beginning in 1932 with piano studies with Nils Larsen and Erling Westher as well as composition studies with Karl Andersen. Parallel to his studies, Sønstevold played piano and trombone in one of the leading jazz quartet of the era: Funny Boys (1932–39).
