Samos, Lugo
Samos is a municipality in the province of Lugo in Galicia, Spain. It contains the village of Samos. Geography Samos is near the eastern mountains of Galicia (the mountains of Lóuzara, Serra do Oribio and Mountains of Albola). The mean altitude is over 700 m and the highest elevation is the mountain of O Oribio at 1,443 m. The Sarria River, a tributary of the Miño River, collects water from the western slopes of the mountains; the Lóuzara River drains the eastern slopes, flowing to the Lor River and then to the Sil River. There are three well-differentiated areas: the central one, where the population is mainly located; the north area, more open and with smooth slopes, and Lóuzara, the southern area, with mountains and valleys. Diogo Alves
Diogo Alves (1810 – February 19, 1841) was a Spanish serial killer and robber. Between 1836 and 1840, he killed 70 people. The crimes he committed were all in the area of the Águas Livres Aqueduct, thus earning the title "Aqueduct Murderer". He was sentenced to death and hanged on 19 February 1841, along with one of his accomplices. His head was separated from his body and placed in a flask to preserve it for scientific purposes, and it is now a tourist attraction. Biography Born in Galicia to a peasant family, Alves fell from the family horse while at a young age and hit his head, earning the nickname "Pancada" ("blow"). At the age of nineteen, his parents sent him to work in Lisbon, Portugal. The main attraction is the small church of Hospital, surrounded by oak and chestnut forest in a western orientated narrow valley. Pedrafita Do Cebreiro
Pedrafita do Cebreiro is a municipality in the province of Lugo in Galicia, Spain. It borders the Lugo municipalities of As Nogais, Cervantes, Folgoso do Courel, Samos and Triacastela. Its eastern boundary borders the province of León. It belongs to the comarca of Os Ancares. Triacastela is a municipality in the province of Lugo, Galicia, Spain. It gets its name from the three castles that once stood here, none of which exist today.
