Samoa National Netball Team
The Samoa national netball team or ''Tifa Moana'' represent Samoa in international netball tests and competitions. The team are coached by Marcia Hardcastle and are co-captained by Opheira Harder-Karatau and Julianna Naoupu. As of 21 July 2019, Samoa are 16th in the INF World Rankings. History They finished 12th at the 2011 World Netball Championships in Singapore, and 9th at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. On their debut at the Nations Cup (netball) Samoa, captained by Sanita To’o, won the tournament with a final score of 50-41 against Singapore. Samoa participated in the 2009 edition of the Fast5 Netball World Series, placing 6th in the competition. In 2022 they competed in the 2022 Oceania World Cup Qualifiers, but missed out on qualification. The Oceania Netball Federation is the regional body within the International Federation of Netball Associations that governs netball across Oceania. The current president is Wainikiti Bogidrau from Fiji. There are currently twenty four countries within the Oceania region. There are seven full members with New Zealand the only one with elite status. Realistically only thirteen nations, predominantly Commonwealth nations, play the game. Fiji National Netball Team
The Fiji National Netball Team better known at the Fijian Pearls represents Fiji in international netball competition. Fiji have competed at nine World Netball Championships, finishing sixth in their best placing at the 1999 tournament. They have also competed at two Commonwealth Games, and won the netball event at the South Pacific Games for a number of years. They have won gold at every games since 1991. They are also the current Pacific Champions, winning the all Pacific Series since its inception. As of 21 July 2019, the Fijian team are Seventeenth in the INF World Rankings. They were captained by Matila Waqanidrola, and coached by Gabriel Qoro and Unaisi Rokoura. Soli Ropati (born 19 May 1997) is a Samoan netball player who plays as a wing defence. She has represented Samoa internationally as part of the Samoa national netball team. Ropati plays for City West Falcons in the Victorian Netball League. In 2017 she was captain of the Samoa under-21 netball team for the 2017 International Youth Netball Series, and then vice-captain for the 2017 Netball World Youth Cup in Gaborone, Botswana. In November 2017 she was selected for the Samoa national netball team for its tour of Scotland. Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic are a New Zealand netball team based in Hamilton. Between 1999 and 2007, they played in the Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup league. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. Since 2017, Magic have represented Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty in the ANZ Premiership. Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty is the governing body that represents the North Island regions of Waikato and Bay of Plenty. During the National Bank Cup era, Magic were premiers in 2005 and 2006. During the ANZ Championship era, Magic were the most successful New Zealand team. Central Pulse are a New Zealand netball team based in Wellington. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. Since 2017 they have represented Netball Central in the ANZ Premiership. Netball Central is the governing body that represents the Hawke's Bay, Manawatū-Whanganui, Taranaki and Wellington Regions. Pulse were 2019, 2020 and 2022 ANZ Premiership winners. Ainsleyana Puleiata
Ainsleyana Puleiata (born 23 July 2000) is a Samoan New Zealanders, Samoan New Zealander netball player who has represented Samoa internationally. She plays for the Central Pulse. Puleiata is from Porirua and was educated at Windley School and St Mary's College, Wellington. She later studied at Victoria University of Wellington, and in 2021 was named their Pasifika Sportsperson of the Year. Puleiata played both rugby and netball at school, and in 2017 signed for netball team Central Manawa. In January 2018 she was selected to be part of the rugby sevens training squad for 2018 Summer Youth Olympics. In 2018 she suffered a knee injury while playing rugby which ruled her out for the entire year. In November 2018 she was named captain of the Central Manawa team for the 2019 season, but damaged the same knee in a pre-season match, requiring further time off.
