Salt Industry In Ghana
The Ghanaian salt industry as of 2009 produced between 250,000 and 300,000 tonnes of salt annually. The Ghana Export Promotion Council (GEPC) has identified the sector as an important one to aid the diversification of Ghana's economy, and the Ghanaian government is currently within the process of developing the industry. Economic benefits Ghana has the production potential of 2.2 million tonnes of salt annually. Economists in Ghana believe the nation's salt industry represents a potential source of revenue from Nigerian purchasers who currently rely on Brazilian imports. The GEPC has requested that the Commonwealth Secretariat establish a framework in Ghana to coordinate the development of the salt sector in the country. Kwadwo Adjei Darko is a Ghanaian politician. He was the Member of parliament for the Sunyani West constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. Early life and education Adjei Darko was born on 10 May 1948. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Cape Coast. He majored in education. Career Adjei Darko is an artist by profession. Political career Adjei-Darko was the Member of Parliament for the Sunyani West constituency in the 3rd and 4th parliaments of the 4th republic of Ghana. Evaporation is a type of vaporization that occurs on the surface of a liquid as it changes into the gas phase. Panbros Salt Production Limited is a Ghana-based salt production company known for being the largest salt producer in West Africa. The company was established in 1958 by Gerasimos Panagiotopoulos a Greek national and is located in Mendskrom, Ghana. Processing Salt ponds are constructed through dugout facilities using pumps. Seawater channeled through the pipes are directed to salt ponds where the water sits for some time before evaporating.
