Kwadwo Adjei-Darko
Kwadwo Adjei Darko is a Ghanaian politician. He was the Member of parliament for the Sunyani West constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. Early life and education Adjei Darko was born on 10 May 1948. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Cape Coast. He majored in education. Career Adjei Darko is an artist by profession. Political career Adjei-Darko was the Member of Parliament for the Sunyani West constituency in the 3rd and 4th parliaments of the 4th republic of Ghana. He was the former Minister of Mines back in the early 2000s, and as of 2008, he was the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment of Ghana and a Member of Parliament for the Sunyani West Constituency. He has done much work to facilitate rural development in Ghana, particularly with the mining of salt and diamonds. However, as of May 2009, Adjei-Darko is believed to no longer be a minister. Jerry John Rawlings
Jerry John Rawlings (22 June 194712 November 2020) was a Ghanaian military officer and politician who led the country for a brief period in 1979, and then from 1981 to 2001. He led a military junta until 1992, and then served two terms as the democratically elected President of Ghana. Rawlings came to power in Ghana as a flight lieutenant of the Ghana Air Force following a coup d'état in 1979. Prior to that, he led an unsuccessful coup attempt against the ruling military government on 15 May 1979, just five weeks before scheduled democratic elections were due to take place. After handing power over to a civilian government, he took back control of the country on 31 December 1981 as the chairman of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC). Democratic People's Party (Ghana)
The Democratic People's Party is a Ghanaian political party formed in 1992 after the ban on political party activity was lifted by the Provisional National Defence Council government of Ghana. The party claims to follow the Nkrumahist tradition along with the People's National Convention (PNC), Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), National Reform Party (NRP) and the Convention People's Party (CPP). Progressive Alliance The party formed the "Progressive Alliance" with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Every Ghanaian Living Everywhere (EGLE) for the presidential election in December 1992. Their common presidential candidate was Jerry Rawlings of the NDC. This alliance continued through the 1996 elections with the party not fielding its own candidates. Convention People's Party
The Convention People's Party (CPP) is a Socialism, socialist political party in Ghana based on the ideas of the first President of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah. The CPP was formed in June 1949 after Nkrumah broke away from the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC). Nkrumah was the then appointed Secretaty General of the UGCC when he was arrested by the leader of the UGCC and imprisoned for an alleged thought, plans and power against Kwame Nkrumah's leadership. Kwame Nkrumah then formed the Convention People's Party with support of some UGCC members and had a purpose for self governance. Upon Kwame Nkrumah's leadership with the CPP, he orgranized a non violent protest and strike for support of the purpose for self-governance which took him to imprisonment for a second time, but he was released after winning a massive vote by the CPP following the colonies election general election whilst he was in prison.
