Robin Cooper (Australian Politician)
Robert Fitzgerald "Robin" Cooper (25 April 1936 – 23 November 2021) is a former Australian politician. Born in Melbourne, Victoria, he attended Xavier College and later the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology before embarking on a career in sales and marketing in the building supplies industry. In 1972 he was elected to Mornington Shire Council, and became president of the council 1979–80. Xavier College is a Roman Catholic, day and boarding school predominantly for boys, founded in 1872 by the Society of Jesus, with its main campus located in Kew, an eastern suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The Shire of Mornington was a local government area about south of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia, encompassing the western extremity of the Mornington Peninsula. The shire covered an area of immediately to the south of Frankston, and existed from 1860 until 1994. The electoral district of Mornington is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. The electorate can be described as outer metropolitan and rural, including animal farming, grape production and wineries. The district is 155 square kilometres in area. It was first created in 1859 when the Electoral district of Evelyn and Mornington was abolished and split in two. The district of Mornington initially included the entire Mornington Peninsula, Phillip Island and French Island. Jeffrey Gibb Kennett (born 2 March 1948) is a former Australian politician who was the 43rd Premier of Victoria between 1992 and 1999, and currently a media commentator. He was previously the president of the Hawthorn Football Club, serving from 2005 to 2011 and again from 2017 to 2022. 2006 Victorian State Election
The 2006 Victorian state election, held on Saturday, 25 November 2006, was for the 56th Parliament of Victoria. Just over 3 million Victorians registered to vote elected 88 members to the Legislative Assembly and, for the first time, 40 members to the Legislative Council under a proportional representation system (Single transferable voting). The election was conducted by the independent Victorian Electoral Commission. The Labor Party government of Premier Steve Bracks, first elected in 1999, won a third consecutive term with 55 of the 88 lower house seats, down seven from the 62 Labor won in 2002. David Morris (Australian Politician)
David Charles Morris (born 30 December 1955) is a former member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly representing the electorate of Mornington for the Liberal Party from 2006 until 2022. Early life Morris was born in East Melbourne, Victoria and lived variously in Melbourne and Geelong, attending Geelong College and Caulfield Grammar.
