Rhonex Kipruto
Rhonex Kipruto (born 12 October 1999) is a Kenyan long-distance runner. He is the 2018 10,000 metres world U20 champion and the 2019 10,000 metres world championships bronze medalist. His 10 km road race personal best of 26:24, set January 12, 2020 in Valencia Spain, is the current world record for that event. Career Rhonex Kipruto's parents are farmers. He grew up in Kombatich and his coach is Colm O'Connell. 2017 In 2017 Kipruto came in third at the 10k in Prague in a time of 27:13. 2018 On 10 February 2018 he placed second in the Kenyan National Cross Country Championships. The 8 km Junior Men run was won by Stanley Waithaka in 22:09.2 and Kipruto came in in 22:30.3. The following month on 17 March, he participated in the African Cross Country Championships U20 race in Algeria. He won the 8 km run in 25:01, 5 seconds ahead of Stanley Waithaka. Berihu Aregawi (born 28 February 2001) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. He placed fourth in the 10,000 metres at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Aregawi currently holds world record in the 5 kilometres road race. Career Berihu Aregawi was the bronze medalist in the 10,000 metres at the 2018 World U20 Championships in Tampere behind Rhonex Kipruto and Jacob Kiplimo. He won the 3000 metres race at the African Youth Games. He then went to Argentina for the Summer Youth Olympics held in Buenos Aires and placed second in the combined 3000m event. In November 2019, Aregawi won the Great Ethiopian Run ( 10 kilometres road race). On 8 June 2021, he finished third in the Ethiopian trial behind Selemon Barega and Yomif Kejelcha in the 10,000m to effectively seal his place at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The 10,000 metres or the 10,000-metre run is a common long-distance track running event. The event is part of the athletics programme at the Olympic Games and the World Athletics Championships, and is common at championship level events. The 3000 metres or 3000-metre run is a track running event, also commonly known as the "3K" or "3K run", where 7.5 laps are run around an outdoor 400 m track, or 15 laps around a 200 m indoor track. It is debated whether the 3000m should be classified as a middle-distance or long-distance event. In elite-level competition, 3000 m pace is more comparable to the pace found in the longer 5000 metres event, rather than mile pace. The world record performance for 3000 m equates to a pace of 58.76 seconds per 400 m, which is closer to the 60.43 seconds for 5000 m than the 55.46 seconds for the mile. However, the 3000 m does require some anaerobic conditioning, and an elite athlete needs to develop a high tolerance to lactic acid, as does the mile runner. Julien Wanders (born 18 March 1996) is a Swiss long-distance runner. He currently holds the List of European records in athletics, European record for the half marathon with a time of 59:13, which was set at the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon in 2019 and the European record for the 10K run, with a time of 27:13 set in Valencia on January 12, 2020.
