Berihu Aregawi
Berihu Aregawi (born 28 February 2001) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. He placed fourth in the 10,000 metres at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Aregawi currently holds world record in the 5 kilometres road race. Career Berihu Aregawi was the bronze medalist in the 10,000 metres at the 2018 World U20 Championships in Tampere behind Rhonex Kipruto and Jacob Kiplimo. He won the 3000 metres race at the African Youth Games. He then went to Argentina for the Summer Youth Olympics held in Buenos Aires and placed second in the combined 3000m event. In November 2019, Aregawi won the Great Ethiopian Run ( 10 kilometres road race). On 8 June 2021, he finished third in the Ethiopian trial behind Selemon Barega and Yomif Kejelcha in the 10,000m to effectively seal his place at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The African Youth Games is an international multi-sport event held every four years to complement the current Africa Games. The first games was hosted by Rabat, Morocco. Athletics At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's 10,000 Metres
The men's 10,000 metres event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place on 30 July 2021 at the Japan National Stadium. 25 athletes competed. None of the 2016 medalists took part in the competition. Selemon Barega from Ethiopia won the event, with Ugandans Joshua Cheptegei, the world record holder, and Jacob Kiplimo coming second and third, respectively. All of them won their first Olympic medal. Yomif Kejelcha Atomsa (born 1 August 1997) is an Ethiopian distance runner. He won a silver medal in the men’s 10,000 metres at the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar. On 3 March 2019, Kejelcha broke the indoor mile world record with a time of 3:47.01. Career Yomif Kejelcha made his international debut at the 2013 World Youth Championships in Donetsk, winning gold in the boys' 3000 metres with a time of 7:53.56. Selemon Barega
Selemon Barega Shirtaga (born 20 January 2000) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. He won the gold medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and a silver for the 5000 metres at the 2019 World Championships in Doha. Barega is a two-time 3000 metres World Indoor Championship medallist, taking a silver in 2018, and a gold in 2022. He won gold medals at the 2016 World U20 Championships (5000m), and 2017 World U18 Championships (3000m). Jacob Kiplimo (born 14 November 2000) is a Ugandan long-distance runner. He is Athletics at the 2020 Summer Olympics, 2020 Tokyo Olympic 10,000 metres bronze medallist and also won bronze in the event at the 2022 World Athletics Championships. Rhonex Kipruto (born 12 October 1999) is a Kenyan long-distance runner. He is the 2018 10,000 metres world U20 champion and the 2019 10,000 metres world championships bronze medalist.
