Benard Kimeli (born 10 September 1995) is a Kenyan long-distance runner. In 2020, he competed in the men's race at the 2020 World Athletics Half Marathon Championships held in Gdynia, Poland. In 2017, he won the Singelloop Utrecht held in Utrecht, Netherlands. Long-distance Running
Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least . Physiologically, it is largely aerobic in nature and requires stamina as well as mental strength. Within endurance running comes two different types of respiration. The more prominent side that runners experience more frequently is aerobic respiration. This occurs when oxygen is present, and the body is able to utilize oxygen to help generate energy and muscle activity. On the other side, anaerobic respiration occurs when the body is deprived of oxygen, and this is common towards the final stretch of races when there is a drive to speed up to a greater intensity. Overall, both types of respiration are used by endurance runners quite often, but are very different from each other. Singelloop Utrecht
The Singelloop Utrecht is an annual road running event over which takes place on the streets of city of Utrecht in the Netherlands. It is typically held in either September or October The competition, which roughly translates as the ''Utrecht Canal Run'', was initiated by Nico Munzert and had its first edition on 30 May 1925. The race, which followed the banks of Utrecht's canals over a 4700-metre-long course, had garnered over 100 participants by 1931, but the crowds of spectators were much larger with over 75,000 people gathering to witness the event. The length of the race was extended in 1937, but the event suffered interruption in this period, being absent between 1940 and 1946 due to World War II and undergoing cancellations in 1950 and 1955. Prague Half Marathon
The Prague Half Marathon (known as the Sportisimo Prague Half Marathon for sponsorship reasons) is an annual half marathon road running event which takes place in Spring on the city streets of Prague, Czech Republic, first held in 1999. It is managed by the same organisation that holds the Prague Marathon in May. The race has a loop course, starting and ending in Jan Palach Square near the Rudolfinum, and largely follows the Vltava river. The competition has enjoyed an increasing level of participation, with around 6500 participants in 2009 and almost 8500 runners taking part in the 2010 event. 2021 Berlin Marathon
The 2021 Berlin Marathon was a marathon race held on 26 September 2021. It was the 47th edition of the annual Berlin Marathon. It was the first edition of the Berlin Marathon to take place after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019. The 2020 Berlin Marathon was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The race was the first of the five World Marathon Majors held in 2021; all the events in the series took place in the space of six weeks between late September and early November. The marathon distance is just over in length and the course is run around the city and starts and finishes in the Tiergarten.
