Ramon Torrents
Ramón Torrents (born 6 December 1937) is a Spanish comic book artist. Career Ramón Torrents was born in Barcelona, Catalonia, northern Spain. He began his career drawing for the comic ''Space Ace''. He later worked on romance comics for British publisher Fleetway, including ''Marilyn'' and ''True Life Library''. In the late 1960s, Torrents worked with Esteban Maroto in the Spanish science fiction series ''Cinco x Infinito''. Through his connections with agency Selecciones Ilustradas, Torrents began working for American company Warren Publishing in 1972. For them, he drew 42 stories until 1979. The majority of his work appeared in ''Vampirella'', with 8 stories done for ''Creepy'' and one story done for ''Eerie''. Torrents drew primarily stand-alone stories except for a three part series titled ''Fleur'' and a single story where he drew Vampirella herself. Creepy (magazine)
''Creepy'' was an American horror- comics magazine launched by Warren Publishing in 1964. Like '' Mad'', it was a black-and-white newsstand publication in a magazine format and did not carry the seal of the Comics Code Authority. An anthology magazine, it initially was published quarterly but later went bimonthly. Each issue's stories were introduced by the host character, Uncle Creepy. Its sister publications were ''Eerie'' and ''Vampirella''. Launch Illustrator and editor Russ Jones, the founding editor of ''Creepy'' in 1964, said he approached ''Famous Monsters of Filmland'' magazine publisher Jim Warren with the idea of horror comics similar to the 1950s' EC Comics comic books. Eerie
''Eerie'' was an American magazine of horror comics introduced in 1966 by Warren Publishing. Like '' Mad'', it was a black-and-white magazine intended for newsstand distribution and did not submit its stories to the comic book industry's voluntary Comics Code Authority. Each issue's stories were introduced by the host character, Cousin Eerie. Its sister publications were '' Creepy'' and ''Vampirella''. Publication history The first issue cost 35¢, was published in September 1966 and only had a 200-issue run of an "ashcan" edition. Vampirella () is a fictional vampire superheroine created by Forrest J Ackerman and comic book artist Trina Robbins in Warren Publishing's black-and-white horror comics magazine ''Vampirella'' #1 (Sept. 1969), a sister publication of '' Creepy'' and '' Eerie''. Writer-editor Archie Goodwin later developed the character from horror-story hostesses, in which capacity she remained through issue #8 (Nov. 1970), to a horror-drama leading character. Fleetway
Fleetway Publications was a magazine publishing company based in London. It was founded in 1959 when the Mirror Group acquired the Amalgamated Press, then based at Fleetway House, Farringdon Street, London. It was one of the companies that merged into the IPC group in 1963, and the Fleetway banner continued to be used until 1968 when all IPC's publications were reorganised into the unitary IPC Magazines. In 1987 IPC's comics line was sold to Robert Maxwell as Fleetway Publications. Egmont UK bought Fleetway from Maxwell in 1991, merging it with their own comics publishing operation, London Editions, to form Fleetway Editions, but the name "Fleetway" ceased to appear on their comics some time after 2002. Esteban Maroto (born 1942) is a Spanish Comics, comic book artist. Career Born in Madrid, he began his career in the 1960s with series like ''Cinco por infinito'', published in English by Continuity Comics as ''Zero Patrol'' (heavily retouched by editor Neal Adams). 'Wolff' by Maroto was published in the UK by New English Library in the magazine ''Dracula''. Dracula was published in the US by the Warren Publishing Company under the title ''Dracula Book 1'' in 1972; the cover was by Esteban Maroto. Skywald
Skywald Publications was an American publisher of black-and-white comics magazines, primarily the horror fiction, horror anthologies ''Nightmare'', ''Psycho'', and ''Scream''. It also published a small line of comic books and other genre magazines. Skywald's original comics were similar in appearance and quality to rival black-and-white publisher Warren Publishing, and even employed many of the same creators. Skwyald operated from 1970 to 1975.
