The Rugby Europe Under-20 Championship is an annual rugby union championship for Under-20 national teams. It replaced the Under-19 championship that was held since 2007. The championship is organised by rugby's European governing body, the Rugby Europe. The tournament serves as Rugby Europe, Europe's qualification to the next year's World Rugby Under 20 Trophy organised by the World Rugby. Rugby Europe
Rugby Europe is the administrative body for rugby union in Europe. It was formed in 1999 to promote, develop, organise, and administer the game of rugby in Europe under the authority of World Rugby (the sport's global governing body). However, it is not responsible for the organisation of the Six Nations Championship or the competitions run by European Professional Club Rugby (the European Rugby Champions Cup and Challenge Cup). The predecessor to Rugby Europe was the Fédération Internationale de Rugby Amateur (FIRA), which was established in 1934 to administer rugby union in Europe outside the authority of the International Rugby Football Board (as World Rugby was then called), and came to spread outside the continent. World Rugby Under 20 Trophy
The World Rugby Under 20 Trophy (known as the IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy until 2014) is an international rugby union competition. The event is organised by the sport's governing body, World Rugby, and is contested by 8 men's junior national teams with an under-20 age requirement. This event replaced the World Rugby's former age-grade world championships, the Under-19 and Under-21 World Championships. The inaugural tournament was held in June 2008, hosted by Chile and with 8 teams participating. The World Rugby Under 20 Trophy is the second level of the World Rugby tournament structure for under-20 national sides. 2021 Rugby Europe U20 Championship
The 2021 Rugby Europe U20 Championship was the fourth edition of the tournament. It took place in Coimbra, Portugal between 7–13 November. The competition consisted of eight teams and was a direct eliminations tournament (knock-out matches) with classification matches. All the teams played three matches during the competition. Spain defeated Portugal 15–9 to win the Under 20 Championship. Czechia and Poland had qualified for the U20 Championship in a qualifier that included Switzerland in the 2019/2020 season.
