Rowan Walker
Rowan Walker (born 12 January 1970 in Hobart, Australia) is an Australian distance athlete, twice holding the title of Australian Marathon Champion. Race career Walker's first marathon was in 2000 when he entered Sydney’s Host City Marathon, a trial event prior to the 2000 Summer Olympics. In 2007, he claimed his first marathon title by winning the Melbourne Marathon in a time of 2:19:16. During this period he was coached by Lee Troop. In 2010, the Gold Coast Marathon simultaneously decided the men's and women's Australian Marathon Champions. As the first Australian athlete to finish, Walker thus claimed the title of Australian Marathon Champion. In 2014, the Gold Coast Marathon again served as the Australian Marathon Championship, and Walker was once more the first Australian home, in 11th place overall, to take the title. Ironman Australia
The Ironman Australia is a yearly triathlon in May covering the Ironman distance (3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42.195 km running) on the East Coast of Australia. The event has been held in Port Macquarie, New South Wales, NSW since 2006 and prior to that it was held in Forster-Tuncurry, Forster / Tuncurry area. Organization The race is organised by World Triathlon Corporation, Ironman Oceania and is sanctioned by Triathlon Australia. The current Race Director is Kieran Burgess. Route The transition area is located in Westport Park. The swim course includes a single lap at the mouth of the Hastings River including two crossings of the flood control weir via stairs erected for the event at the northern end of the course. Anglesea is a town in Victoria, Australia. It is located on the Great Ocean Road in the Surf Coast Shire local government area. In the , Anglesea had a population of 2,545 people. Originally known as Swampy Creek, the area's name was changed to Anglesea River in 1884 when the township was established. Kepler Challenge
The Kepler Challenge Mountain Run is the premier mountain running event in New Zealand and follows the 60 km Kepler Track through the Fiordland National Park. It has been held annually since 1988, and draws competitors from throughout New Zealand and around the world. Around 450 runners enter the event with nearly all completing the demanding course. Route Starting at the Control Gates of Lake Te Anau the route follows an easy first 6 km before it takes a steady climb to the Luxmore Hut. The next 12 km offer wonderful views of the South Fiord along the undulating tops before a spectacular descent to the Iris Burn Hut. A gradual 17 km journey down the Iris Burn brings competitors to the Moturau Hut on Lake Manapouri and from there a 6 km run to the last checkpoint at Rainbow Reach. The Canberra Times Marathon Festival is an annual marathon () held in the city of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory (ACT). The marathon was established in 1976 and is the oldest city marathon in Australia. The marathon was initially held on November before being moved to April in 1979. History The marathon was first held in November 1976 and had 30 people start. It was founded by John Harding, who also was the race director and inaugural winner, with a finish time of 2:36:39. The whole purpose of the event was to allow John Harding to get a qualifying time in order to enter the Australian Marathon.
