Rosemarie Wenner
Rosemarie Wenner (born July 1, 1955) is a German Methodist bishop. She was the Presiding Bishop of the United Methodist Church in Germany from April 2005 until May 2017. Rosemarie Wenner studied in Reutlingen, Germany. After her ordination she worked in Karlsruhe-Durlach, Hockenheim and Darmstadt/Sprendlingen. On April 1, 2005 Rosemarie Wenner was the first woman to be elected United Methodist bishop in Germany. She succeeded Dr. Walter Klaiber. From 2012 to 2014 she was the president of the UMC Council of Bishops. She was the first woman from outside the United States ''to preside over the council.'' Rosemarie Wenner is a member of the UMC Commission on a Way Forward that was tasked by the General Conference find a solution for the conflict on the disputed paragraphs in the UMC's Book of Discipline regarding homosexuality. United Methodist Church
The United Methodist Church (UMC) is a worldwide mainline Protestant denomination based in the United States, and a major part of Methodism. In the 19th century, its main predecessor, the Methodist Episcopal Church, was a leader in evangelicalism. The present denomination was founded in 1968 in Dallas, Texas, by union of the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church. The UMC traces its roots back to the revival movement of John and Charles Wesley in England, as well as the Great Awakening in the United States. Hockenheim
Hockenheim () is a town in northwest Baden-Württemberg, Germany, about 20 km south of Mannheim and 10 km west of Walldorf. It is located in the Upper Rhine valley on the tourist theme routes "Baden Asparagus Route" () and Bertha Benz Memorial Route. The town is widely known for its Hockenheimring, a motor racing course, which has hosted over 30 Formula One German Grand Prix races since 1970. Walter Klaiber (born April 17, 1940 in Ulm) is a theologian, bishop of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Germany and was until the beginning of March 2007 Chairman of the Working Group of Christian Churches in Germany. Bibliography Studies and academic career Walter Klaiber studied Protestant theology at the Theological seminary of the Evangelical Methodist Church (EmK) in Reutlingen, at the University of Tübingen and at the University of Göttingen. From 1969 to 1971 he was a research assistant at Ernst Käsemann in Tübingen.
