Roman Svichkar
Roman Yuliyovych Svichkar ( uk, Роман Юрійович Свічкар, translit=Roman Julijovych Svičkar; born 23 June 1993) is a Ukrainian épée fencer, bronze medallist in the 2018 World Fencing Championships. Career Roman Svichkar represented Ukraine at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore, where he was 12th in individual event. Svichkar earned a place in the national team in 2017. Since then he participates in different international senior competitions. On May 13, 2018, he won his first ever World Cup medal which was bronze in team event in Paris. At the 2018 European Fencing Championships he was 19th in individual competition and 5th in team. Épée
The ( or , ), sometimes spelled epee in English, is the largest and heaviest of the three weapons used in the sport of fencing. The modern derives from the 19th-century , a weapon which itself derives from the French small sword. This contains a detailed contempraneous description of the history and form of the sport. As a thrusting weapon, the is similar to a Foil (fencing), foil (contrasted with a Sabre (fencing), sabre, which is designed for slashing). It has a stiffer blade than a foil. It is triangular in cross-section with a V-shaped groove called a Fuller (weapon), fuller. The also has a larger bell guard designed to protect the users arm when fencing. Paolo Pizzo (born 4 April 1983) is an Italian right-handed épée fencer, two-time individual world champion, two-time Olympian, and 2016 team Olympic silver medalist. Biography In 1996, when Paolo Pizzo was 13, he was diagnosed with head cancer that forced him to abandon the sport, then came slow rehabilitation until his first victory came in 2009. Pizzo competed in the 2012 London Olympic Games and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, where he won a silver medal in the team men's épée event. World Fencing Championships
The World Fencing Championships is an annual competition in fencing organized by the Fédération Internationale d'Escrime (FIE; ''International Fencing Federation'' in English).
