Roman Catholic Diocese Of Maumere
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Maumere (''Dioecesis Maumerensis'') in Indonesia was created on December 14, 2005, by splitting it from the Archdiocese of Ende, which is still the metropolitan of the diocese. Its first bishop is Vincentius Sensi. The St Joseph church in Maumere is the cathedral of the diocese. The diocese covers an area of 1,732 km², coinciding with the civil district Sikka on the eastern part of the island Flores. As of 2005, 259,598 of the 270,000 people in the area are members of the Catholic Church. The diocese is subdivided into 35 parishes. Roman Rite
The Roman Rite ( la, Ritus Romanus) is the primary liturgical rite of the Latin Church, the largest of the ''sui iuris'' particular churches that comprise the Catholic Church. It developed in the Latin language in the city of Rome and, while distinct Latin liturgical rites such as the Ambrosian Rite remain, the Roman Rite has gradually been adopted almost everywhere in the Latin Church. Maumere
Maumere is the administrative seat of the Sikka Regency and the second-largest town (after Ende) on Flores Island, Indonesia. It lies on the north coast of the island and the port is in the north-west part of the town. Administratively the town is not a single district (''kecamatan'') within the regency, but is divided into three districts – Alok Barat (West Alok), Alok and Alok Timur (East Alok) – although the latter two districts also include a number of substantial islands off the north coast of Flores. Ewaldus Martinus Sedu
Ewaldus Martinus Sedu (born 30 July 1963) is an Indonesian Roman Catholic bishop. Biography Sedu was born in Bajawa, to Nikolaus Gapi and Maria Dhone. He attended Mataloko Middle Seminary in the city from 1977 to 1983 for junior and high school. He continued his education in philosophy and theology at the Ledalero Catholic School of Philosophy after undergoing the Year of Spiritual Orientation at the Interdiocesan High Seminary of St. Peter Ritapiret, in Flores where he was elected as class president and general chairman. Sedu returned to the St. John Brekmans Toda Belu Intermediary Seminary from in 1988–89. He was ordained a deacon on 21 October 1989, and was ordained a priest in the Archdiocese of Ende on 7 July 1991. Vincentius Sensi Potokota
Vincentius Sensi Potokota (born 11 July 1951) is an Indonesian Roman Catholic archbishop. Biography Born in Ende Regency, Potokota was ordained as priest in the Archdiocese of Ende on 11 May 1980. On 14 December 2005 Potokota was appointed as the bishop of the newly established Diocese of Maumere. The episcopal ordination took place on 23 April 2006, with the Archbishop of Jakarta, Cardinal Julius Darmaatmadja S.J. ordaining Potokota as bishop. The co-consecratos of the event were then-bishop of Weetebula Gerulfus Kherubim Pareira S.V.D., and then-bishop of Pangkal Pinang Hilarius Moa Nurak S.V.D. A bishop is an ordained clergy member who is entrusted with a position of authority and oversight in a religious institution. Sikka Regency
Sikka is a regency within East Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia, on the island of Flores. It covers an area of 1,731.91 km2 and had a population of 300,301 at the 2010 census and 321,953 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 324,252. The capital is the town of Maumere, which comprises the districts of Alok Barat, Alok and Alok Timur (although the last two also include a number of notable islands to the north of Flores). Flores
Flores is one of the Lesser Sunda Islands, a group of islands in the eastern half of Indonesia. Including the Komodo Islands off its west coast (but excluding the Solor Archipelago to the east of Flores), the land area is 15,530.58 km2, and the population was 1,878,875 in the 2020 Census (including various offshore islands); the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 1,897,550.
