''Robot Dreams'' is a 2023 Spanish-French animated tragicomedy film written and directed by Pablo Berger. It is based on the comic of the same name by Sara Varon. It is about the inseparable friendship between a dog and a robot in Manhattan, New York in the 1980s. ''Robot Dreams'' had its world premiere at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2023, in the Special Screenings section. It received the award for Best Film in the Contrechamp section of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 96th Academy Awards. Pablo Berger Uranga (born 1963) is a Spanish film director born in Bilbao, Spain. Life and work Pablo Berger attended primary and secondary school in Artxanda Trueba, located on the outskirts of Bilbao, Spain. In 1988 he directed his first short film, ''Mamá'' (''Mum'') with artistic director Álex de la Iglesia and Ramon Barea. With the financial winnings from a grant from the Provincial Council of Biscay, he went to study for a masters in film at New York University. After getting his Ph.D., he worked as a professor of management at the New York Film Academy. The weighted arithmetic mean is similar to an ordinary arithmetic mean (the most common type of average), except that instead of each of the data points contributing equally to the final average, some data points contribute more than others.
