Rikko Voorberg
Rikko Voorberg (born 1980) is a Dutch theologian. Biography Voorberg was born into a minister's family, the second child of Paul Voorberg, minister in the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Liberated). He was educated at Greijdanus College in Zwolle, and then studied theology at the Theological University of the Reformed Churches in Kampen. He moved to Amsterdam and worked for a fledgling Protestant church, and in 2012 started an experimental religious theater group, ''StroomWest''. Since 2013 he is in charge of the so-called "PopUp church", and writes columns for '' nrc.next'' and ''Nederlands Dagblad'', and helped found the ''Vluchtkerk'', a church organization in Amsterdam that supports refugees whose applications have been denied. Reformed Churches In The Netherlands (Liberated)
The Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Liberated) (Dutch: Gereformeerde Kerken in Nederland (vrijgemaakt)) are an orthodox Calvinist federation of churches. This church body arose in 1944 out of the so-called Liberation (') from the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands, when many pastors and members refused to go along with the General Synod's demand to hold to "presumed regeneration of infants" at their baptism. Klaas Schilder played an important role in the Liberation. There are currently 270 affiliated local congregations with a total of about 120,000 members in 2016. Since 2017, the denomination has been in the process of merging with the Netherlands Reformed Churches, which together hope to form, on March 1, 2023, the Dutch Reformed Churches, a new denomination. Zwolle () is a city and municipality in the Northeastern Netherlands. It is the capital of the province of Overijssel and the province's second-largest municipality after Enschede with a population of 130,592 as of 1 December 2021. Zwolle is on the border with Gelderland, which follows the river IJssel, and is located about 50 km north east of Utrecht and 85 km south west of Groningen. ''Nederlands Dagblad'' (; "Dutch Daily") is a Dutch daily newspaper, available nationwide, with a daily circulation of 23,800 issues (in 2020). History The paper was founded in 1944 as a semi- resistance paper during World War II called ''Reformatie Stemmen'' (Reformatory Voices). After the war it was renamed ''De Vrije Kerk'' (The Free Church) and later ''Gereformeerd gezinsblad'' (Reformed Family Paper). In 1959 it became a daily newspaper. The paper obtained its current name in 1967. For many years it had a strong binding with the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Liberated) and the Gereformeerd Politiek Verbond, a former Dutch christian political party. Theological University Of The Reformed Churches
Theological University of the Reformed Churches ( nl, Theologische Universiteit Kampen van de Gereformeerde Kerken) is an academic theological seminary in the Dutch city of Kampen. It was founded on 6 December 1854 in Kampen. The university primarily caters to ministerial education. In order to be an ordained minister in the Reformed Churches a six-year training including a Bachelor of Theology (BA) and Master of Divinity (MA) are required. Next to these programs the seminary offers one-year master programmes (MA) in several disciplines. Most MA-programmes can be taken in English. Since 2015 the university also offers a full English programme: Master of Intercultural Reformed Theology, which attracts International and Dutch students. Especially the MA in 21st Century Mission under the supervision of Stefan Paas is a popular programme. Kampen () is a city and municipality in the province of Overijssel, Netherlands. A member of the former Hanseatic League, it is located at the lower reaches of the river IJssel. The municipality of Kampen had a population of in and covers an area of . Kampen is located in the North West of Overijssel and is the largest city in this region. Evangelische Omroep (EO, English: ''Evangelical Broadcasting'') is one of the twelve member-based broadcasting associations contributing to the Netherlands Public Broadcasting system. It has as its mission to bring people into contact with Jesus Christ and its statement of faith is a form of Evangelicalism. EO is one of the few broadcasting associations in the '' pillarized'' Dutch broadcasting system to have remained totally faithful to its religious roots. For a long time every one of its programs made reference to God and to the Christian religion, although this is less often the case in the 21st century. EO Youth Day
The EO Youth Day is an annual event in the Netherlands where young Christians from various churches sing concerts together, pray and listen to speeches. Christian artists from the Netherlands and abroad also perform. The event is organized by the Evangelische Omroep. History The first EO Youth Day was held in 1975 in the Martinihal in Groningen. It was a regional event that attracted about 1,500 to 3,000 visitors. After four other small-scale youth days in Arnhem, Hilversum, Leiden and Den Bosch, it was decided to move to Jaarbeurs in Utrecht in 1980 to turn it into a national event. The number of participants grew strongly in the first years and so in 1982 about 20,000 people came to the event. When Jaarbeurs became too small for the number of participants, it was moved to the Galgenwaard Stadium, also in Utrecht, which could accommodate about 30,000 people.
