Theological University Of The Reformed Churches
Theological University of the Reformed Churches ( nl, Theologische Universiteit Kampen van de Gereformeerde Kerken) is an academic theological seminary in the Dutch city of Kampen. It was founded on 6 December 1854 in Kampen. The university primarily caters to ministerial education. In order to be an ordained minister in the Reformed Churches a six-year training including a Bachelor of Theology (BA) and Master of Divinity (MA) are required. Next to these programs the seminary offers one-year master programmes (MA) in several disciplines. Most MA-programmes can be taken in English. Since 2015 the university also offers a full English programme: Master of Intercultural Reformed Theology, which attracts International and Dutch students. Especially the MA in 21st Century Mission under the supervision of Stefan Paas is a popular programme. Kampen () is a city and municipality in the province of Overijssel, Netherlands. A member of the former Hanseatic League, it is located at the lower reaches of the river IJssel. The municipality of Kampen had a population of in and covers an area of . Kampen is located in the North West of Overijssel and is the largest city in this region. The city of Kampen itself has around 37,000 inhabitants. Reformed Churches In The Netherlands (Liberated)
The Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Liberated) (Dutch: Gereformeerde Kerken in Nederland (vrijgemaakt)) are an orthodox Calvinist federation of churches. This church body arose in 1944 out of the so-called Liberation (') from the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands, when many pastors and members refused to go along with the General Synod's demand to hold to "presumed regeneration of infants" at their baptism. Klaas Schilder played an important role in the Liberation. There are currently 270 affiliated local congregations with a total of about 120,000 members in 2016. Since 2017, the denomination has been in the process of merging with the Netherlands Reformed Churches, which together hope to form, on March 1, 2023, the Dutch Reformed Churches, a new denomination. Evangelische Omroep (EO, English: ''Evangelical Broadcasting'') is one of the twelve member-based broadcasting associations contributing to the Netherlands Public Broadcasting system. It has as its mission to bring people into contact with Jesus Christ and its statement of faith is a form of Evangelicalism. EO is one of the few broadcasting associations in the '' pillarized'' Dutch broadcasting system to have remained totally faithful to its religious roots. For a long time every one of its programs made reference to God and to the Christian religion, although this is less often the case in the 21st century. History EO was founded in 1967 by Christians, mainly Free Church members who were disappointed with the other Protestant broadcasting association, NCRV, for not putting more emphasis on its Christian inspiration. Rikko Voorberg
Rikko Voorberg (born 1980) is a Dutch theologian. Biography Voorberg was born into a minister's family, the second child of Paul Voorberg, minister in the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Liberated). He was educated at Greijdanus College in Zwolle, and then studied theology at the Theological University of the Reformed Churches in Kampen. He moved to Amsterdam and worked for a fledgling Protestant church, and in 2012 started an experimental religious theater group, ''StroomWest''. Since 2013 he is in charge of the so-called "PopUp church", and writes columns for '' nrc.next'' and ''Nederlands Dagblad'', and helped found the ''Vluchtkerk'', a church organization in Amsterdam that supports refugees whose applications have been denied. Klaas Schilder
Klaas Schilder (19 December 1890 – 23 March 1952) was a Dutch Neo-Calvinist theologian and professor in the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Dutch ''Gereformeerde Kerken in Nederland'' or GKN) and later in the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (liberated) (Dutch ''Gereformeerde Kerken (vrijgemaakt)''). Schilder was born into a national church ('' Nederlandse Hervormde Kerk'') family in Kampen, the Netherlands; the family joined the Gereformeerde Kerken when he was a child. Herman Bavinck
Herman Bavinck (13 December 1854 – 29 July 1921) was a Dutch Calvinist theologian and churchman. He was a significant scholar in the Calvinist tradition, alongside Abraham Kuyper and B. B. Warfield. Biography Background Bavinck was born on 13 December 1854 in the town of Hoogeveen in the Netherlands to a German father, Jan Bavinck (1826–1909), who was the minister of theologically conservative, ecclesiastically separatist Christian Reformed Church (Christelijke Gereformeerde Kerk).
