EO Youth Day
The EO Youth Day is an annual event in the Netherlands where young Christians from various churches sing concerts together, pray and listen to speeches. Christian artists from the Netherlands and abroad also perform. The event is organized by the Evangelische Omroep. History The first EO Youth Day was held in 1975 in the Martinihal in Groningen. It was a regional event that attracted about 1,500 to 3,000 visitors. After four other small-scale youth days in Arnhem, Hilversum, Leiden and Den Bosch, it was decided to move to Jaarbeurs in Utrecht in 1980 to turn it into a national event. The number of participants grew strongly in the first years and so in 1982 about 20,000 people came to the event. When Jaarbeurs became too small for the number of participants, it was moved to the Galgenwaard Stadium, also in Utrecht, which could accommodate about 30,000 people. Groningen (; gos, Grunn or ) is the capital city and main municipality of Groningen province in the Netherlands. 1998 FIFA World Cup
The 1998 FIFA World Cup was the 16th FIFA World Cup, the football world championship for men's national teams. The finals tournament was held in France from 10 June to 12 July 1998. The country was chosen as the host nation by FIFA for the second time in the history of the tournament, defeating Morocco in the bidding process. It was the second time that France staged the competition (the first was in 1938) and the ninth time that it was held in Europe. Spanning 32 days, it is the longest World Cup tournament ever held. The Netherlands national football team ( nl, Nederlands voetbalelftal or simply ''Het Nederlands elftal'') has represented the Netherlands in international men's football matches since 1905. COVID-19 Pandemic In The Netherlands
The COVID-19 pandemic in the Netherlands has resulted in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths. The virus reached the Netherlands on 27 February 2020, when its first COVID-19 case was confirmed in Tilburg. It involved a 56-year-old Dutchman who had arrived in the Netherlands from Italy, where the COVID-19 pandemic seemed to enter Europe. As of 31 January 2021, there are 978,475 confirmed cases of infections and 13,998 confirmed deaths. The first death occurred on 6 March, when an 86-year-old patient died in Rotterdam. Janneke Marlene "Marja" van Bijsterveldt-Vliegenthart (born 27 June 1961) is a Dutch politician of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA). She has been mayor of Delft since 2 September 2016. Early life Van Bijsterveldt attended nursing school and worked in healthcare. Politics In 1990 she became politically active for the Christian Democratic Appeal. Femke Halsema (; born 25 April 1966) is a Dutch politician and filmmaker. On 27 June 2018, she was appointed Mayor of Amsterdam and began serving a six-year term on 12 July 2018. GroenLinks (, ) is a green political party in the Netherlands. It was formed on 1 March 1989 from the merger of four left-wing parties: the Communist Party of the Netherlands, the Pacifist Socialist Party, the Political Party of Radicals and the Evangelical People's Party, which shared left-wing and progressive ideals and earlier co-operated in Regenboog-coalition for the 1989 European Parliament election. The Christian Democratic Appeal ( nl, Christen-Democratisch Appèl, ; CDA) is a Christian-democratic political party in the Netherlands.
