Richmond Terminal Subdivision
The Richmond Terminal Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in Virginia. The line is located within Richmond, Virginia, for a total of 4.3 miles. At its north end it continues south from the RF&P Subdivision and at its south end it continues south as the Bellwood Subdivision, which connects to CSX's S Line. It junctions with the North End Subdivision, which connects to CSX's A Line, at AY Interlocking. The Richmond Terminal Subdivision runs along track that was originally part of the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad. Acca Yard, a major CSX freight yard, is located on the Subdivision. Acca Yard was named after either nearby Acca farm or the Shriner Acca temple, established in 1886. Both of these places were named after the city of Acca in the Holy Land. RF&P Subdivision
The RF&P Subdivision is a railroad line owned and operated by CSX Transportation. It runs from Washington, D.C., to Richmond, Virginia, over lines previously owned by the Pennsylvania Railroad and the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad. The line's name pays homage to that railroad, which was a predecessor to the CSX. Route description At the northern (eastern) end of the line, the RF&P Sub connects to the Capital Subdivision, which runs to Baltimore, Maryland. Just before the Anacostia Railroad Bridge on the Capital Sub is the Virginia Avenue Tunnel. Bellwood Subdivision
The Bellwood Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in Virginia, United States. The line runs along CSX's S Line from Richmond, Virginia, to Bellwood, Virginia, for a total of . At its north end the line continues south from the Richmond Terminal Subdivision and at its south end the line continues south as the North End Subdivision. History The line was once the northernmost segment of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad's main line (which is now CSX's S Line). North End Subdivision
The North End Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in Virginia and North Carolina. The line runs from Richmond, Virginia, to Rocky Mount, North Carolina, for a total of 123.2 miles. At its north end the line continues south from the Richmond Terminal Subdivision and at its south end the line continues south as the South End Subdivision. The North End Subdivision is the northernmost segment of CSX's A Line which in its entirety runs from Richmond to Tampa, Florida. Richmond, Fredericksburg And Potomac Railroad
The Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Potomac Railroad was a railroad connecting Richmond, Virginia, to Washington, D.C. The track is now the RF&P Subdivision of the CSX Transportation system; the original corporation is no longer a railroad company. The RF&P was a bridge line, with a slogan of "Linking North & South," on a system that stretched about 113 miles. Until around 1965, RF&P originated less than 5% of its freight tonnage, probably less than any other Class I railroad. For much of its existence, the RF&P connected with the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway, the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad and Seaboard Air Line Railroad at Richmond. Interstate 95 (I-95) runs within the Commonwealth of Virginia between its borders with North Carolina and Maryland. I-95 meets the northern terminus of I-85 in Petersburg, and is concurrent with I-64 for in Richmond. Although I-95 was originally planned as a highway through Washington, D.C. (following the route of what is now I-395), it was rerouted along the eastern portion of the Capital Beltway. From Petersburg to Richmond, I-95 utilized most of the Richmond–Petersburg Turnpike, a former toll road (the south end of the toll road was on I-85).
