Republican National Hispanic Assembly
The Republican National Hispanic Assembly is an American political organization founded in 1967 which seeks to promote Hispanic-American issues and interests within the Republican Party, and the Party's interests and candidates within the Hispanic-American population. The group is partially an outgrowth of the Spanish Speaking Advisory Committee of the Republican National Committee, which itself was created as a response to successful efforts to attract Hispanic-American voters to the presidential candidacy of Richard Nixon. History Founding In 1967, an informal meeting was held in Washington, DC by thirteen Hispanic-American men. Hispanic And Latino American Organizations
The term ''Hispanic'' ( es, hispano) refers to people, cultures, or countries related to Spain, the Spanish language, or Hispanidad. The term commonly applies to countries with a cultural and historical link to Spain and to viceroyalties formerly part of the Spanish Empire following the Spanish colonization of the Americas, parts of the Asia-Pacific region and Africa. Outside of Spain, the Spanish language is a predominant or official language in the countries of Hispanic America and Equatorial Guinea. Jason Villalba (born March 26, 1971) is a politician and attorney who is a Republican former member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 114 in Dallas County. He works for the law firm Frost Brown Todd. Villalba was defeated in the Republican primary on March 6, 2018, by Lisa Luby Ryan, who then lost the general election to the Democrat John Turner. Raul "Danny" Vargas is an American businessman, media personality, U.S. Air Force veteran and political activist. He is founder and president of VARCom Solutions, a D.C. area-based marketing and public relations firm. He was the National Chairman of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly from 2007 - 2009. Catalina Vásquez Villalpando
Catalina "Cathi" Vásquez Villalpando (born April 1, 1940) is the 39th Treasurer of the United States who served from December 11, 1989, to January 20, 1993 under President George H. W. Bush and is the only U.S. Treasurer ever to be sent to prison. She had held minor positions under President Ronald Reagan and had chaired the Republican National Hispanic Assembly. In 1994, Villalpando was found guilty of obstruction of justice and tax evasion. Early life Villalpando was born Catalina Vásquez to a poor family in San Marcos, Texas, one of four girls and two boys. Tirso Del Junco (born April 20, 1925) is an American politician who served as chair of the Republican Party of California, and the head of the University of California board of regents. He is also a former Olympic rower and a medical doctor. Early life and education Del Junco was born on April 20, 1925, in Havana, Cuba. Del Junco is a graduate of the University of Havana Medical School, 1949. Michael Steele
Michael Stephen Steele (born October 19, 1958) is an American political commentator, attorney, and Republican Party politician. Steele served as the seventh lieutenant governor of Maryland from 2003 to 2007; he was the first African-American elected to statewide office in Maryland.
