Raúl González Blanco (; born 27 June 1977), known as Raúl, is a Spanish Association football, football Manager (association football), manager and former player who played as a Forward (association football), forward. He is the current manager of Real Madrid Castilla, the reserve team of La Liga club Real Madrid CF, Real Madrid. Raúl is regarded as one of the greatest players of his era. Raúl was born in the San Cristóbal de los Ángeles neighborhood of Madrid where he played for the local youth team before moving to the Atlético Madrid youth team. He later moved to Real Madrid's La Fábrica (Real Madrid), youth academy and played at its various levels. In 1994, he signed his first professional contract with the Tercera División, fourth division team Real Madrid C, and then was swiftly promoted to the first team. The 1996 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, which spanned two years (1994–96), had 44 entrants. The team captain of an association football team, sometimes known as the skipper, is a team member chosen to be the on-pitch leader of the team; they are often one of the older or more experienced members of the squad, or a player that can heavily influence a game or has good leadership qualities.
