Raman Vijayan
Raman Vijayan (born 4 June 1973) is a former Indian football player, founder of Noble Football Academy And RamanVijayan Soccer School. He also worked as commentator for the Indian Super League on Star Sports Tamil. Raman is one of two Indian footballers, other than Baichung Bhutia, to be the top scorer in the old NFL India, National Football League after he scored 10 goals during the 1997–98 Indian National Football League, 1997–98 season. Club career Raman started his footballing career with East Bengal FC before the National Football League began in 1996. After the 1997-98 season, Raman became the top scorer in the NFL that season after he scored 10 goals. The Santosh Trophy, officially known as Hero Senior Men's National Football Championship due to sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp, is a state-level football competition contested by the state associations and government institutions under the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the sport's governing body in India. Football has been a sport at the South Asian Games since it commenced in 1984. Since the 2004 South Asian Games, the age limit for men's teams is under 23, plus up to three overaged players for each squad, which is the same as the age limit in football competitions at the Summer Olympics and Asian Games. Nepal and Pakistan are currently the most successful countries in the Men's event with 4 Gold Medals each while India is the most successful in Women's event with 3 Gold Medals.
